But DS3 combat is just really hard and frustrating, i was also expecting to slash enemies in counts of 3-4 on every encounter not just go 1 on 1 with them...
Hell sometimes if there are more waves on the screen i have to think about it before i go attack them cuz i'm not sure i can handle them... i'm not sure if devs went for a different feel of the combat, but i preffered the old combat system.
I like the DS3 story and even the 1 on 1 encounters i can deal with mainly because Fury looks awesome using that whip, but out of the 4 difficulties, i'm on the 2nd one and i have to say it's really frustrating.
Well ♥♥♥♥, if that was true then why dont we just go full stupid and call it a demon soul clone? Or go full meta and call it a clone of the game that INSPIRED demon souls?
It isn't the end of story or you wouldn't have so many people retelling the story.
It is only halfway a Souls clone anyhow, in that you bank souls, collect souls, need to recollect on death, and have an Estus flask, along with respawning enemies in locations if you die. Those are all hallmarks of Dark Souls.
The combat itself is NOT like DS, but it's noticeably worse than Darksiders 2 solely from a design standpoint. The biggest standout is how absolutely horrible a powerful Horseman is against 3 or 4 enemies. War and Death handled multiple enemies just fine (Death did especially, anyone remeber the Gauntlet? AMAZING fun going through 100 rounds of that! With many, many groups of enemies) but Fury is terrible at handling enemy groups, even weak ones. The best she can do is hold LMB and hope for the best, especially considering that your dodges have almost no I-frames to speak of and no cancellation ability.
I could list more things about the combat mechanics but the point is, it's bad. It has the potential to be great, like DmC or Bayonetta, but it is missing a dozen different things that are absolutely required in order to bring the combat up to that. I have no confidence Gunfire know or understand how to do that.
It's also not really a Dark Souls clone any more than something like Devil May Cry is; people just throw that term around.
Can't see what's wrong with the game in other ways. It is as difficult as first one (at least on higher difficulties), and combat in general reminds me rather of Nier Automata on Hard, but with more strict evasion.
Refreshable healing item is actually extra forgiving aspect of game - same to Dark Souls, and unlike most slashers, it ensures you have some healing item after death aside of consumables (which is especially useful on bosses), but unlike Dark Souls, it actually allows you to refill it between checkpoints.
Corpse run is also really forgiving, while still remaining a punishment for death to some extent. You drop souls on death, but your next death will NOT destroy previous lost souls, so you can gather all your lost souls no matter how much you die.
Exploration is rather on point - it is very rewarding, and world at least feels whole with all those connections between areas.
So, even if it may be Dark Souls "clone", I can't find anything bad with it. Most issues game has have nothing to do with this resemblance.
And like how Odyssey is a WoW/Borderlands clone.
