That's kind of the problem - Fury is *described* as a mage, but -- going by what we've seen so far -- she doesn't feel like one. Granted we've only seen her use two wrath abilities - one where she makes a massive explosion with her whip, and another where she sets herself on fire (granted that might be a Fire Hollow exclusive ability), but the former is just barely fitting, while the second is an ability that War possessed.
I'm hoping that this isn't one of those things where Fury being a mage is entirely based on her use of hollows, and that THQ have some really amazing stuff in mind, because right now Fury is no more a mage than Death or War. I mean they could mix magic into her main combat abilities - say maybe she swipes her whip and conjures a spiralling vortex of magical energy, or thrusts her palm forward and telekinetically blasts enemies, or something like that. Of course, wrath abilities should stand out for her as opposed to her brothers - minion summoning, conjuring magical explosions around the battlefield, other super flashy/super awesome powers.
If the only thing about Fury being a mage is the elemental transformations, I'm gonna be pretty disappointed, because then it will be so much potential and opportunity squandered.
Actually, to be fair, Gandalf was a special case. He had magic, but he rarely used it. I forget the exact explanation, but in any case, magic was wildly different in Lord of the Rings than it is in other works.
Still, magic was different in that setting. In Darksiders, magic is a deal more flashy, and most characters exhibit some magical ability -- and all the Horsemen thus far. For Fury to be the mage, the presumption would be that she is *more* magically inclined than her brothers, but so far, she seems to be less so inclined than either; War could summon serpants and use Stone Skin and such, while Death could conjure frozen crows and ghouls; so far, all Fury seems to do is make fancy explosions with her whip which, while cool, doesn't really shout "mage."
Honestly, there's so much they could do with Fury, even while maintaining the game's status as a "hack and slash", but I fear they might fall short on that.
the only thing i see so far on how they portray the mage is making fury's hair on fire. i'm wondering how she looks if she specialize in ice. 10/10 bet it's going to look blue.
and if that's true.. how she looks if she specialize in poison? green? poison ivy type of character?
honestly, her armor looks really crap. if the devs would have make her armor design that looks like Thor, that would probably be much more interesting.
I really like a female Thor version in darksiders.
The costume design isn't *bad* - honestly I like it - but the problem is that when compared to her original design, it feels so bland and uninspired.
Honestly, I don't much care for the Hollows, because thus far, I fear they take and make Fury - who stood to be one of the most versatile and interesting Horsemen - and limit that versatility basedo n her current form. Still versatile - as long as you don't mind taking the time to transform into a specific form for whatever you need.
