Accessing Nightmare Mode

I was looking forward to nightmare mode and I have tried deleting a save file to find nightmare mode and beating the final boss again to go to NG+ but, even that wasn't a new option. I have yet to figure out how to get this mode. Anyone know how?

I'm having the same problem
There's no option to choose nightmare mode
I have beaten the game on reckoning and started a new game +, there is a pop up telling me about nightmare mode, but then there's no option to choose it, it's just reckoning

Yeah I'm hoping they release another update soon to fix this

If you mean NIghtmare mode where you can't die or you will start from beginning,
it works. It is after the starting new game (not necessary NG+) when you will choose difficulty, after that fighting mode and after that you can choose Nightmare mode.
Maybe it can be activated after finishing the game once.

Oh... after starting a completely different file and than beating it again? I had just been trying to reuse a save file from before NG+ was a thing. Hmmm Ill try that.

It has to be a completely new save file to be able to select Nightmare mode. You can't pick it on NG+ if you didn't start the save file on Nightmare.

It was an assumption that Nightmare mode is available after 1 walkthrough for every new slots but I remembered I had an opportunity to use this mode in my first walkthrough.
You can't start NG+ with nightmare mode if you didn't start your first walkthrough with it.
As Caius said it must be the new slot with a new game.

I just checked and the only options are story through reckoning mode. Do I have to play through the game on one of those first and than be able to select nightmare mode? Thanks for all tips so far too.

This is strange because you have to have Nightmare mode as an option anyway.
I don't know ofc but maybe this mode is available for players with DLCs?
I started to play when I had every content of the game.

Do you have every DLC? Maybe this problem is because of it

I think it was included in one of the patches. DLC should not be a requirement but can't 100% confirm since I never had the game without DLCs.

Yeah I have all the DLCs I preorder the game back in November so, everything should be there. It's very strange. I was hoping not to have to play through another file to start Nightmare but, maybe I can just speedrun it really quickly

Yeah, I read DLCs' innovations and there is no any info about Nightmare mode. That means Nightmare mode was really added with some of the patches.

Jackel, maybe some of those patches had incorrect installation - bad internet connection in that moment, system crashes or something else.
Try to remove the game and save your savefiles before - C:Users\User profile name\AppData(hidden folder - turn on showing hidden files)\Local\Darksiders 3 - this is your savefiles.
Save it somewhere and reinstall the game. After that try to start new game without your savefiles integration. It could be some trouble when incorrect installation of the patch crased your datafile of the game that's why you can't use Nightmare mode.
