Report a translation problem
Joking aside, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the original names. These renames are just really generic and honestly kind of lame.
Sounds to me like there is some room for renaming. Also remember that foreign languages rarely translate litterally into English; it's a game of interpretation and the Bible was not written in English.
Fair enough - you have a very valid point. I just like the generally accepted 4 names that have been floating around for the last 2000 years. =p
Famine isn't catchy like War and Death, what would the character powers be ? Make the enemies die of hunger ? What about her look ? Would she be some anorexic girl ? It wouldn't work, and there would be a ton of backlash, like some years ago when super models were deemed too skinny and a bad role model.
Pestilence, well, that's not too catchy either, is it ? But it would have been reaaaaally funny to have an heroine who smells terrible.
And Conquest, that would have been kinda mysoginistic I think for a woman. She's your conquest, the reward you get, the trophy. Feminazis would make a ruckus.
Now they chose Fury, and she has a whip and looks like a dominatrix. It's still a bit cliché I think, women in games generally have a bow, a whip, or they are mages and healers, they are always nimble and agile. I wish they had done a character which looks more badass.
What i also don't like is how Strife and War and to a lesser extend also fury are all kinda the same concepts.
I mean Strife means conflict right ? And War (the character) already seemed like the furious, heated one and now Fury would have to be even more aggressive than he is right ?
I think Conquest could have been pretty cool as a female character, im thinking of someone resembling Bellona who also is using a whip in Mythology so they could have even kept that concept. Or maybe also Nike. In my mind she would have been pretty calm and reasonable as you can't conquer something without a good strategy but she would have been fierce in battle, just like these gods were described basically and she would use many different weapons just like Bellona did in mythology were she was depicted using many different weapons.
Famine i would have imagined as an old man tall and slim and in his awakening mode (since they all seem to posses one) he would have turned into a glutenous monster since he took all nourishment of the things he fought and in that mode uses that or something.
Idk just some quick ideas xD
Look at Death. The game should have been over in an hour, instead we had to faf around killing enemies instead of just reaping their souls imediatly and be talked back to by the Lord of the Dead.
Death looked more like middle management than actual impersonisation of Death.
yeah about that...

Read the comic that is included with Darksiders 1 before asking ohers to replay the game.
All 4 Horsemen are shown and named, Fury is the correct name lore wise and so is Strife.
