More Interesting Female Gods
I'm disappointed in the female gods. While the males have all kinds of forms/shapes/ages. The females are all the same body type, and all very lewd. I'm not sure if more Gods will be added in the future and if there are, I'm hoping the developers may see this and create a female that isn't just a copy paste of the same generic type you see plastered everywhere.

I'm a female player who enjoys playing a female I can somewhat relate to and I can never connect with a female who wanders around half naked. But that's all I ever see and it's frustrating because there are SO many interesting ways you can design a female.

I may get torn apart for this suggestion, but I wanted to take the risk because I really enjoyed playing Thea: The Awakening but felt kind of let down when I saw the available female gods for Thea 2. In the end, maybe my suggestion will be taken into consideration, maybe not. But at least I know I tried.

Thank you for reading and regardless I wish nothing but the best for this unique game. ♥

Yeah they might. I haven’t really seen most all the gods in the game but I know they are most of not all naked so Lewd or natural gods is all your probably going to get because it’s Slavic lore, and most gods are considered both male and female.

Agree. It's not really my biggest concern, but when I see women like the large and in charge warrior lady portrait it lifts my day. As more art is added I'd be happy to see more of this.

I agree, especially when it comes to Godesses being half naked which is frankly humiliating for them if they are really supposed to be deities... though I think it's normal that a goddess would have a body that's associated with being healthy, fertile and attractive. Like it or not, these are extremely important qualities for a woman.

The "boob advertisement" might be effective but at the same time it cheapens the product so much and all you can do it just roll your eyes at it. I hope it doesn't take a woman to notice these things...

Not sure how much I agree with your assessment there. I'm a relatively young woman, and while being attractive is a factor to me, it's not a big enough one that it drives me to work very hard at it. Being considered attractive can boost my confidence levels but not nearly so much as traits to do with my capability or personality.

I'm aware that that's a little unusual, but it's not nearly so uncommon as to make me an anomaly especially in the modern world. Likewise the ability to have a child is low on my list of priorities, and I'm not so self-centered that should I want one I'd disqualify the idea of adoption and only consider children that I personally give birth to.

Being healthy is never gonna be a bad thing, but the traditional media model of slender and/or underfed females with possibly oversized cleavage is actually not the healthiest of body types in my experience. The reason such women dominate the public view is almost entirely for the sake of being the most attractive to the most men on average so that they will pay attention and throw money at the people in charge.

That being said, people still have varied tastes and there is no one magic formula for an attractive woman. It's actually smarter in my opinion to present a variety of attractive options, even if you're only considering male gaze and not the growing movement of female gamers who are fed up with a female character, especially a protagonist, being valued or designed only for being sexy.

Take this screenshot for example:

In my personal opinion this character art is one of the more attractive female portraits you can get and edges out quite a lot of more conventional designs. As you can see from the comments, she's pretty popular among others too.

The formula for being attractive is not limited to skinny female + boobs. When that's all that you see, it's not just offensive; it's also boring. In this regards Thea 2 is actually not nearly as bad as a lot of other games, but it still has room for improvement.

I was very happy to see different women, especially the kind you don't often see in game. I'm a little disappointed to see that goddesses are more "classic", when gods have a good diversity. So more diversity of goddesses would be cool. Of course, some like lada are the personification of some things like youth or health and so will probably fit the image people associate with that, but there is space for different style here.

I suppose if Mokosh is added to the game then she could look matrony, but if obese is what you're going for then I would be against it. This even nowadays is not very common in Eastern Europe on which folklore the game is based.

I mean, while I generally do think it's good to show different body types etc, in some parts of the western world, especially in America this is used to excuse unhealthy life habits and glorify obesity.

The topic of Slavic gods is so rarely represent in pop culture that I personally would prefer to stick as closely to the source material as possible - that is to include the way that people looked at the time when they worshipped those gods. And on top of that those gods would be the best versions of what those people could ever look like, since they are gods.

I get it that people of different shapes and sizes want to be represented in games and especially when they aren't they will try to look for any opportunity for it. But I just don't want it to happen at an expense of a game where it just does not suit the feel and atmosphere... but I do still think that the goddesses could be a bit more modestly dressed. Mainly because I believe that the "boob advertisement" cheapens the product and is disrespectful to characters that are meant to be deities.
Lumisteria Jan 7, 2019 @ 8:21am
All body types are used to excuse or encourage "bad" behaviour by some people, this argument isn't really valid. Or we should absolutely avoid all female character looking like top model, because this is heavily used for a lot of bad things in a lot of country (with far more worse consequencies).

Fat people or people with different shapes don't happen "at the expens" of a game, they can totally fit the atmosphere and feel of the game. Mostly because, well... Diversity exists, diversity existed back in time, not all god were perfect statues, and point of view of what is desirable wasn't necessarily the same than now. Our views of what is "desirable" or "healthy" are heavily cultural.

I also add that the game already take some liberties with the source material. And of course, the source material isn't always reliable.

Yeah, it is really nice to see that and I do love the variety of female citizens (warriors, gathers, etc) and their designs. So, even if the female Gods remain the same kind of format, it is nice to see the creators branch out with the regular citizens. <3

I can really agree with the humilating part. It doesn't feel sexy to me it just feels exposing and uncomfortable. As for the body types, since it's a fantasy game... I just want variety. I see really cool designs for males and they just get such a huge range of space to be creative and it's depressing to just see the same thing used over and over for females. It gets boring and tiring.

But I ramble. xD In the end I thought I'd mention it, but as someone already mentioned in here it isn't a game breaker for me. Especially since I do really enjoy the range they've used for the citizens. <3

I kind of wonder what happened to Perun and Mokosh since both were dropped from this game after being the original two ruling gods. I assume that they died during or before the shattered, but she would have been my number one candidate for a larger variation of body and clothing types.

That said I still think it's sort of funny that out of all of the unlockable gods only Marovit isn't flashing his chest or more.

Marovit: He's hunched over in a robe feeling insecure about himself.
Lada: She's in a plunging white dress
Zorya: I think she's wearing some wierd plastic getup that connects her sholder pads and pants.
Dzievanna: Mother nature in a bark bikini.
Svarog: A metal dress and an arm guard since he believes the world needs his chest.
Horz: He's completely naked with some fur, and just put his leg up to hide his junk.
Stribog: This guy can't even wear clothes and is literally translucent. Stribog couldn't hide anything even if it wanted to.

If you are so triggered i suggest you do something about it yourself, the modding section in the discord allows you to create a mod where you ideal visual representation can be put in place.

Please let individuals decide for themselves. I am looking forward to a mod which allows even more sexy and beautiful portraits.

I don't think the mod's can actually change god images yet. so modding won't solve the problem, at least yet.

Please avoid stuff like "triggered" when people simply express that they like diversity, especially when they are saying that they are grateful about the things devs already did and would like it to continue and expand even more. This has nothing to do with being triggered.

So what you are saying is that if people have a different opinion than you about something then they need to just shut up about it and make a mod?

The game is in early access, whatever the changes may be, everyone has a right to propose them and give their feedback. That's kind of the point.

Your comment comes across as rather aggressive and it really is clear to me that you are the one "triggered" by this discussion. Or you may simply be a child in which case you can be excused, who knows.

The problem I have with female warrior #6 is that she's the least like a warrior of any of the warrior portraits. She is, as far as you can tell, entirely unarmored, and has the most improvised-looking of any of weapons. If I did not know she was a warrior, I'd assume she was not - bandit, scoundrel, scavenger, or even one of the laborer classes seem more likely. The closest equivilant among the male warriors is #4, who is topless but wearing prominent leg armor instead of heavy, cumbersome skirts (and style-wise, he looks like he's meant to mirror #7, not #6). It's a bit frustrating that the one broad-framed warrior amongst the women looks more like an innkeeper or such than a combatant.

I Agree, the general female form seems to be lewd among the gods. But they where pretty much the same in Thea 1. Much more Lewd than the male forms. Now sure, I do not mind playing 18+ games that are straight up hentai, but I would prefer that the mature content in this game become classy rather than straight up lewd.

And the Female Demon that your kids can become is a nude demon, didnt like that. it makes no sense running around naked in combat.

BUT unlike some in the other posts, I actually like the Barkeep Warrior and many of the other portraits. I usually give them a title to their name like "The Tavern Keeper Sarah" and so on, and attempt to keep these various people stay behind in the towns while the ones with more warrior/scout/Mage apperance venture forth to gather materials or doing quests. In short I have no problem with an Innkeeper that is skilled at fighting, no problem at all.

I have more problems with characters that seem to belong in the red-light distict. :P
