The "boob advertisement" might be effective but at the same time it cheapens the product so much and all you can do it just roll your eyes at it. I hope it doesn't take a woman to notice these things...
I'm aware that that's a little unusual, but it's not nearly so uncommon as to make me an anomaly especially in the modern world. Likewise the ability to have a child is low on my list of priorities, and I'm not so self-centered that should I want one I'd disqualify the idea of adoption and only consider children that I personally give birth to.
Being healthy is never gonna be a bad thing, but the traditional media model of slender and/or underfed females with possibly oversized cleavage is actually not the healthiest of body types in my experience. The reason such women dominate the public view is almost entirely for the sake of being the most attractive to the most men on average so that they will pay attention and throw money at the people in charge.
That being said, people still have varied tastes and there is no one magic formula for an attractive woman. It's actually smarter in my opinion to present a variety of attractive options, even if you're only considering male gaze and not the growing movement of female gamers who are fed up with a female character, especially a protagonist, being valued or designed only for being sexy.
Take this screenshot for example:

In my personal opinion this character art is one of the more attractive female portraits you can get and edges out quite a lot of more conventional designs. As you can see from the comments, she's pretty popular among others too.
The formula for being attractive is not limited to skinny female + boobs. When that's all that you see, it's not just offensive; it's also boring. In this regards Thea 2 is actually not nearly as bad as a lot of other games, but it still has room for improvement.
I mean, while I generally do think it's good to show different body types etc, in some parts of the western world, especially in America this is used to excuse unhealthy life habits and glorify obesity.
The topic of Slavic gods is so rarely represent in pop culture that I personally would prefer to stick as closely to the source material as possible - that is to include the way that people looked at the time when they worshipped those gods. And on top of that those gods would be the best versions of what those people could ever look like, since they are gods.
I get it that people of different shapes and sizes want to be represented in games and especially when they aren't they will try to look for any opportunity for it. But I just don't want it to happen at an expense of a game where it just does not suit the feel and atmosphere... but I do still think that the goddesses could be a bit more modestly dressed. Mainly because I believe that the "boob advertisement" cheapens the product and is disrespectful to characters that are meant to be deities.
Fat people or people with different shapes don't happen "at the expens" of a game, they can totally fit the atmosphere and feel of the game. Mostly because, well... Diversity exists, diversity existed back in time, not all god were perfect statues, and point of view of what is desirable wasn't necessarily the same than now. Our views of what is "desirable" or "healthy" are heavily cultural.
I also add that the game already take some liberties with the source material. And of course, the source material isn't always reliable.
Yeah, it is really nice to see that and I do love the variety of female citizens (warriors, gathers, etc) and their designs. So, even if the female Gods remain the same kind of format, it is nice to see the creators branch out with the regular citizens. <3
I can really agree with the humilating part. It doesn't feel sexy to me it just feels exposing and uncomfortable. As for the body types, since it's a fantasy game... I just want variety. I see really cool designs for males and they just get such a huge range of space to be creative and it's depressing to just see the same thing used over and over for females. It gets boring and tiring.
But I ramble. xD In the end I thought I'd mention it, but as someone already mentioned in here it isn't a game breaker for me. Especially since I do really enjoy the range they've used for the citizens. <3
That said I still think it's sort of funny that out of all of the unlockable gods only Marovit isn't flashing his chest or more.
Marovit: He's hunched over in a robe feeling insecure about himself.
Lada: She's in a plunging white dress
Zorya: I think she's wearing some wierd plastic getup that connects her sholder pads and pants.
Dzievanna: Mother nature in a bark bikini.
Svarog: A metal dress and an arm guard since he believes the world needs his chest.
Horz: He's completely naked with some fur, and just put his leg up to hide his junk.
Stribog: This guy can't even wear clothes and is literally translucent. Stribog couldn't hide anything even if it wanted to.
Please let individuals decide for themselves. I am looking forward to a mod which allows even more sexy and beautiful portraits.
So what you are saying is that if people have a different opinion than you about something then they need to just shut up about it and make a mod?
The game is in early access, whatever the changes may be, everyone has a right to propose them and give their feedback. That's kind of the point.
Your comment comes across as rather aggressive and it really is clear to me that you are the one "triggered" by this discussion. Or you may simply be a child in which case you can be excused, who knows.
And the Female Demon that your kids can become is a nude demon, didnt like that. it makes no sense running around naked in combat.
BUT unlike some in the other posts, I actually like the Barkeep Warrior and many of the other portraits. I usually give them a title to their name like "The Tavern Keeper Sarah" and so on, and attempt to keep these various people stay behind in the towns while the ones with more warrior/scout/Mage apperance venture forth to gather materials or doing quests. In short I have no problem with an Innkeeper that is skilled at fighting, no problem at all.
I have more problems with characters that seem to belong in the red-light distict. :P
