Move village?
I don't suppose there is a way to move my village, if I put it in a crappy spot?

No you can't move your village, you can build a second one and abandon your first one but that's it.

Do you get the cosmic seed back if you abandon a village?

Curious because I've never done it.

That totally sucks.. lol

I use the building overhaul mod, which lets you actually move your villages....it's rather expensive to do, but it beats losing a cosmic seed!

You can incrase the village gathering radius by doing the Replace Idol ritual. It may help. At overall nomad play style seems much better than villages

I kind of spend the first few weeks exploring the starter continent for an area that has basic fuel/foods in the "basic bish" gathering radius and some good materials for mid game gear in a more extended radius before settling down.
Bonus points if it contains two types of food that I can continuously craft into prepared food to take with me while on the go.
At the beginning you can easily keep your gatherers/crafters in food just by foraging for a few turns now and then and use that opportunity to craft placeholder gear for empty slots.

After I find a spot, I use my research points to unlock the advanced resources and use the entire party to farm enough stock of those to build a better totem so they'll be in range for harvesting once done.

That usually holds me fine until you get the next seed and can relocate to a more dangerous location.

If you have a really have a good place, you are better of with one village. Full upgraded you will nearly allways get top tier legendary with master quality if you craft. And you really do not need 30 people in a fight, just the best and with all upgrades even gatheres and similar can defend a village.

I just gather the resources for max tier totem and a ship with decent stats then find the continent with two level 3 resources find a place with both and a good source of coal and food then I'm set to craft max level equipment. Also during all this i try to encourage encounters that result in more characters. Once I build my city I use it as a home base and send most of my best characters out to travel the world do quests and harvest additional resources etc.

The starting continent has no tier 3 resources only tier 1 and 2. There are 6 tier 3 resources. You want two that can be combined to create tier 4 and 5 resources. You preferably want one tier 3 of stone metal or gems and one of bone wood or hide for maximum crafting ability. Though getting one inorganic and one organic with your city is very unlikely so you'll probably need to travel to another continent for harvesting the 3rd tier 3 needed for maximum crafting quality and options.

My current playthrough my city has ancient wood and mythic hide. It would be best if the two could be combined for higher tier resources which wood and hide cannot.

If you're lucky enough to get a perfect set of tier 3 resources it'll be wood and metal or stone and hide or bones and metal or gems and hide etc. That way both tier 3 resources you have easy access to can combine with the same tier 3 resource you send an expedition to gather regularly. Or if you're super lucky you'll get one organic and one inorganic that can be combined with eachother like, wood and stone or gems, bones and gems, and finally hide and metal.

The worst ones to get are on opposite sides of the research wheel like gems and metal, wood and hide, stone and bone. Bone and hide or stone and metal aren't great either but at least they can be combined.

Remember though everytime you lose you get unlock points for better starting party etc so don't be afraid of death.
