Vavel Dragon quest broken?

So I just brought the herbs and the wood to Needler, but there is no text option to actually give him the stuff. I checked my inventory twice, but the quest acted as if I didn't have the stuff and I was forced to battle the 10 difficulty dragon! Killed two of my best fighters. I don't mind losing and it was a cool fight, but... why? Is the quest just broken like that?

I remember having to visit him twice to get it to work in my last playthrough but it worked. I wonder if you just can't visit him on the same turn that you get everything. I dunno.

I do remember in thea 1 you could get him to join with the right dialogue options. I need to figure out how to pull that off in 2. Been so long since I played 1.

I made a trip to my village to get the stuff in between, so stuff not registering on the same turn probably was not the issue. I too remember that it was pretty easy to get him to join you in 1. You just needed to deny him a "princess" and tell him that there are other women in the village that might (or might not) like him.
Anyway, I'll try talking to him twice next time.

What kind of wood did you bring him? For me it didn't seem to work with basic wood, but T2 wood worked.

The quest definitely works as I did it recently myself.
Did you have the right amount? 20 herbs and 40 wood? I've made the mistake of not bringing the right amount a few times.

As for how to get him to join you, you have a 40% chance to recruit him if you have a character with the attractive or beautiful tag.

I had basic wood. It used to work in Thea 1 with basic resources and it never stated that it has to be rare wood. Odd.

Yep, I had both. Wood and herbs. Hundreds of units.
