Scoundrels / Scavengers are good for...what?
I have played several hundred turns with half a dozen new runs.... Still, I was not able to figure out, what is the advantage/use of scoundrels or scavengers. Their stats are equaly low in all 3 main and secondary attributes/abilities. Also their low carry limit makes it next to impossible to make them into (good) warriors or even ranged bow/speer users. The purple and yellow stats are also too low to use them as summoners, casters or anything...
--> so far, the only use I can find for them is their pet slot for a horse/boar/goat, a ring to dazzle/sleep enemies and maybe gathering/crafting (but even for that some can not carry tools or are too weak)

--> Anything I missed so far, or are they really just bad?^^

[ Update: I changed the title to include scavengers too... I do not think I ever noticed a difference between those two classes anyway... ]

Seafaring you can make a few rafts and have them explore the vast empty empty ocean. And if they die no biggie. :-)

Hahaha yeah, suicide commando... Might be a task :,D
But normaly you can find islands via searching the fog of war for mountain peaks / something tall. Mostly one or more screen lenght away, but still... They are not even needed as "suicide explorer corp" ...so... They are kinda even too useless to send them dying somewhere :-/

In Thea 2 not all the classes are equaly helpful. Scoundrels are better than scavengers, but worse than normal warriors/bowmen.

Scoundrels and Scavangers are deliberately bad. They're the worst classes human characters can have. If a child fails the rites of passage when becoming an adult they generally become a scoundrel or scavanger. If you end up with some then just use them as gathers for food or meat shields. You don't want to build your party with them.

There are quite a few events I've come across that give you an extra option for having a scoundrel or a scavanger e.g. had one wherein the scavanger could appeal to other scavangers so made my battle a level easier.

Those two are intentionally weak, and are given extra dialogue/event option possibilities to make up for it. Is it worth it? Generally no, but I'm not incredibly upset when I get one unless its from a fate roll.
I've also had quite a few events with the [Scoundrel] or [Scavenger] option that lead to either avoiding a battle or gaining extra resources. There is one event in particular where it felt very benefical to have one - but does that make them better than a Zerca/Shamen? I don't think so, but if you are doing iron man challenge you don't need to dispair if your child is sent away to become a warrior and comes back a wreck.

I hope during EA the scavengers\scoundrel will be balanced to make them somehow usefull...e.g. "glass cannon rouges"

-> what makes them even worse is, that the attribute/skill options you get when leveling up seem to be absolute random...so you can not even "make" them usefull by pushing certain attributes...but one level +2 strenght next level +2 wisdom next level +2 perception and then "blunt attack"...gg...child got kinda screwed

When starting with Lada as god and therefore already such a meatshield is in the starting party and then my child in the group becomes the second meatshield...2/4 is a restart/new run -.-

I mean they are decent gatherers with that trash panda skill that gives them +2 gathering and any level of gathering tool. They aren't going to win any beauty contests and can't go toe to toe with other classes but they aren't utter trash either.

I need confirmation... but
Did several reloads to see how growing up in different professions would pan out. And noticed that the experience varied.
To sum it up. My guess is that the professions are indeed not equal. Most important: chances of a skill which can be attained on adulthood or selected for upgrade are dependend on the profession. And bad professions like scavengers level faster than warriors (example).

I find they are OK Crafters, Gatherers and Mules (adding them to a group to carry morew stuff).

I had kids grow up, selected "Warrior" and he became a Scoundrel. Boy was I Mad! :steamfacepalm:

they tend to get mass sleep, so i use 1 in every group to slow down the enemy, they are also ok gatherers, so while i do prefer the casting classes, i prefer scoundrels over crafters/gatherers once i have a certain number of crafter/gatherers

Well, at round ~200 I found a dragon bone totem with damage that scales with wisdom / destiny...since my scoundrel had a bit of those attributes skilled and wisdom can be pushed via crafting tools, the char finally got usefull :D
--> Now the scoundrel deals up to 25 damage as aoe (the mace/mallet type) in challenges with intelligence/wisdom :-) Now, that the char is usefull, I might even get him some gear to get more shield/resistance, to survive fighting in the front line.

Nevertheless....getting a scoundrel or scavenger out of a child remains the worst option^^

Are scavengers bad on purpose? I have a scavenger which I started the game with, she has 17 destiny and a soul tear skill that deals 2.3 destiny damage, she's pretty much the strongest villager I have for spiritual concept challenges.

I keep her in my main group, since she is also a great gatherer.
