I dont understand party encumberance
Can someone explain party encumbrance now and how it is supposed to be.

1) I don't see any consequences for the party being overencumbered but may have missed something.
2) I built a raft with a 1460 encumberance allowance and suddenly my party on land seems to be able to carry that extra amount.
3) I put to sea and now I have a total allowance of 1460. The weight of the party seems to include the encumberance of the gear my characters are carrying so even if I throw all supplies overboard I'm still encumbered but it doesn't matter because of #1.

Why does there seem to be no consequence of being overencumbered? Why does the raft help me carry stuff on land? While at sea, should the gear worn by the party really count?

What makes the party encumberance limit is it the sum of the individual character limits + 200 per character?

I did find a horse that gave +1 MP and +100 party encumberance allowance - seems that allowance could be larger and also could have a mule pet that gave an even larger allowance but didn't have the move bonus (and could have a sanity malus!)

Also, strength has a diminishing returns on increase in character encumberance (presumably to avoid really strong characters that can carry anything) but should it still have that diminishing return effect on party encumberance?

+1

I find it a bit confusing too - especially when you're sailing, seems then the values mean the opposite of what someone might expect.

In general they take a reduction to movement past certain thresholds, and after a certain point, they won't be able to move at all until some weight is offloaded.

raft or boats have additional capacity added to the weight of the party. the weight system is quite confusing.. but i do notice that if over the 150% of the carrying weight of the entire party the party will start to suffer and have 0 movement points..

I'm sure the weight while sailing is being displayed incorrectly, and the added weight capacity when carrying a ship is also not displaying correctly.

Overweight characters should have some penalties but the interface doesn't make it clear what it is. Probably something on the worklist for them.

I actually think that Encumberance is completely broken right now.

Do boats stack? if i have 2 boats, will i have extra carrycapacity?

There actually is one, a goat, that seems to be randomly awarded from some of those scroundel/bandit events when you kill them that allows you to carry ~300-400kg extra(both of mine are either 336 or 366, not sure if it's fixed)

Encumberance is broken.

If you look for it, you'll find an icon on over-encumbered characters (skill tab?). That tooltip says at the end of the turn, a random piece of gear will be un-equipped and returned to the inventory. Theoretically that would remove their over-encumbered, but if it removes a pet with 0 weight, it didn't do anything of note.

As stated earlier in thread, there are thresholds of % of weight limit group can carry before movement penalties incur. Sailing is unaffected (from what I've seen).

I'm sure it's a known bug by most players by now, and I can only assume it's been reported to the devs multiple times. Just in case...devs this is a bug.

A character that become encumbered by suffering a disease won't have an item removed at the end of turn.
I found a goat (+100 party weigth limit) and a horse (+100 party weight limit and +1 move). I've never suffered from being encumbered in the multiple games I played.

The whole encumber thing is a nuisance, if you don ´t build a city early you always get overburdened pretty fast and at some point you can only do 1 step and can ´t cross rivers or climb hills. So you ve to throw away staff you wanted to keep for crafting later and so on.

It was easier in thea 1 where you just could throw everything in your city fot later use maybe.
The Problem with early city in thea 2 is that you struggle to get citizen at the moment, so you can ´t roam with a party and defend/work in the city.
Well it ´s early access and I hope this carry/encumber problem will get a fair solution later on.

Sometimes even if i build a city it tells me the people in the city are overburdened, but all of the materials are ofc in the city itself. I dont understand how it works.

i don't know for sure.. but per characters have different carrying weights (depends on might) which corresponds to being overburdened if your equips is over its carrying limits.. now for the overall carring limits in the overworld.. it seems to have a different value.. like if you ride a boat or raft your total carry weight of the entire party in the overworld changes to that of the carrying weight of the boat/raft.. but when your inland it changes back to the weight of the carrying weight of the entire party.. emcumberance = to the over equiped of the character? not the total items the entire party carries.

they could add hand carts to the game make them crafable. that would not ruin imersion. It does seem kinda off that your peaple are carrying around all the stuff on their back anyway

Sorry, tl;dr, but I had a party of 15, that was double encumbered, as in it was at 8000+/4000+ that had 1 movement.. I litteraly had to split the party so one group could move to make a town.

Isnt party encumbrance their personal x2 per character?
Someone with 2000 in personal carry limit adds 4000 to the part limit. With a Horse with a value of 200 it would be 4200 to party carry limit.

Definatly should have wagons added to party limit on lands, similar to ships, without the limitations. A warrior carrying almost maximum gear on a ship will eat up alot of carrying potential of the ship. So the ship isnt straight bonus to weight limit, it is how much it can carry period, but the wagons should not have this limitation and be straight bonuses.
