They do however open some options in some events.
I think the stigma is the main difference between the two shamans, maybe classic shaman has a bit more stats.
Chance option is one that usually transform your character into something else.
Skirmishers are pretty similar to bandits statswise, they have medium equal strength and perception stats so you can use them as archer or Melees. They are ok, but never reach highclass in their role.
The boar rider is similar to the orc matriarch, it ´s imho one of the best melee classes ingame and also good in mental challenges. if I remember right matriarch still better stats, but boar riders are great too.
The results by chance options where quite disappointing too me to be serious. The woodland kin are mainly with weak stats and skills and/or can ´t wear much equipment, they might help in some social challenges though but don ´t expect to much of them.
What you want is that Boar Rider, perhaps with a +movement pet, to break away from the main group and initiate events as your group moves around the world. Since you'll be in the same hex or maybe one hex away from the rest of the group, they'll join in thanks to the reinforcement radius, but they won't use their movement points. So, in effect, you get "free" interactions in the world by having a very high movement character in each group. You can do so many more things each turn, which means your characters get stronger, faster - and you also keep the world clearer of lairs and patrols so your weaker groups, like your home group, stay safe.
The high STR and thus carry capacity is also quite nice, of course, but the high movement is what makes the Boar Rider so irreplaceable.
I know other threads have been asking about a wiki. Is anyone going to set one up with info like this in it? I'm not the one to do it, but it would be nice to have a central location to be able to find this out. I mean, eventually, I'd probably ask the same question about the other races.

I don't know how accurate or complete the informations on it are, however.
