[Linux] Game crashes with Xbox controller connected
When you have a wired or wireless Xbox 360 controller and you start the game, it will crash a few seconds later before it can show the game UI. Disconnecting the controller will make the game start. Just without controller support. There already is a thread about this in the General Discussion board, but I thought it would be better to create a bug report in the right place.

System:

AMD Ryzen 5 2400G
Gigabyte GA-AB350N ITX Gaming Wifi
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS | Kernel 4.18.5 - Mesa3D 8.3-devel

Same issue with a Steam controller under Arch Linux.

Hi,

Xbox 360 controller, up to date Arch Linux with reasonable hardware: http://pasted.co/8e37301e for full specs

I can open the game with the controller connected, and it works fine. But if I remove it (e.g. wait too long and it automatically turns off) the game crashes as soon as I reconnect the device.

Thank you!

I have the same issue as dejaime, but with a ps4 controller. game starts up, works fine, but if anything causes a connection issue on the controller (charge cable unplugged, swapping from usb to bluetooth, etc) the game hard crashes instantly.

I am still having this issue.

I found the same issue using a dualshock controller.

I followed the steps on this page: https://steamcommunity.com/app/606150/discussions/0/1742216483307002809/
and it was fixed.

Basically:
Properties -> General Tab -> Steam Input Per-game setting -> Forced Off

Hope this helps!

Having the same issue with a Steam Controller, and tried the "Forced Off" suggestion but it didn't help. The same issue occurs in Aztez (also a Unity engine game) so might something related to the engine being used (?)

I also crashes with the switch pro controller and with the dualshock 4 not all inputs are being registered.

So I figured out why it was crashing for me. I had another usb controller (usb foot pedal) that was being detected as the primary controller, and therefore some specific games that couldn't handle that it shouldn't use it - did crash because of that.

Tried the solution in the support guide and and still no luck, i don't have any extra usb peripheral and i only connected one control at the time.
