What's with the giant green monster that spawns randomly?
Is he on a timer? Can you actually do anything to it other than just teleport to town? I'm not trying to take forever in some maps, but after inventory management, I had to go back for some stuff I left behind only to be forced back to town when he spawns inside a room full of enemies with me.

Green monster is basically the game's way of telling you to hurry up. You won't be able to get everything in a dungeon in a full clear. You cannot fight him as you've probably guessed, but you can go to the next floor, iirc. I think that either resets his timer or failing that, at least slows it a bit. Good thing to do if you're having inventory issues is know where the next floor's entrance is in case you have to book it.

Edit: realized I didn't answer the question about the timer; yes, he is on a timer. I think that is paused when inventory is opened, though. He can also spawn when you take a book item from a secret room, but you won't get the eye in the bottom corner of the screen first in that case; he'll just show up on top of you.

If you fall into the secret room with the book, replace the book with a trash object from your inventory. That will make sure he won't spawn instantly for taking the book, only if you stay too long on that dungeon's floor.

But yes, the Lurker is basically an enrage timer if you stay on too long on a floor.

Well that's mildly irritating.

Do we ever get a bigger inventory size or is 20 going to be all we get? I'm finding it difficult to have fun with the game when I find a chest and every single item has to be stacked on the sides of my inventory and none of them can be stacked with each other. Also, if you accidentally press A once instead of holding it to grab the entire stack, you usually permanently separate that stack and it won't ever go back together again (namely the unidentified ones).

If you press back/cancel the split stack should go back on top of the other, even if you can't manually place it back there.

If you kill 10 mimics, then the 10th one will drop an egg that you can take back to town. When it hatches 3 days later, it will be a pet that gives you a full chest's worth of inventory space. I just unlocked it prior to starting new game plus, and sadly the pets don't carry over :(

(actually, for future reference: the only things that seem to carry over to ng+ are the things in your current inventory, including things you're wearing. BUT! It replaces your first weapon with a new starter weapon, so make sure to take off your weapons before you save your game in order to start ng+)

Other than the mimic, no: we don't get more inventory space. That's part of the game's idea, I think. Loot what you can, and get out with what you can.

Well that extremely sucks to hear. I still don't have a mimic egg because it seems you have to kill ten of one particular mimic species to drop it (wood, iron or gold), their kills can't stack together.

Does gold carry over?

Aaaand it turns out I was wrong. Instead of just killing any 10 mimics, according to the moonlighter wiki we have to kill 5 of each type: 5 wooden, 5 iron, and 5 gold. I wasted a bunch of time trying to kill a bunch of wood mimics on ng+ (I still haven't gotten the egg, so maybe it actually is 10 of one type and I just miscounted. I don't know at this point)

Gold does carry over, so stack up some of it (maybe 1 or 2 million, or a bit more if it's not too time consuming for you), but don't get too caught up on it as the new prices in ng+ will overshadow the normal tech dungeon stuff by the time you get to the ng+ forest.

How do you get mimics to reliably spawn? I've been reloading the save over and over in the golem dungeon (lowest monster HP) to try and get mimics to spawn on the first floor. I have about... If it's 5/5/5 I need one more iron mimic kill. Where do I find those most reliably?
b0b Feb 21, 2019 @ 9:01pm
I don't know of a way to get mimics to spawn reliably. I've been taking high level gear into the golem dungeon and running it over and over again and again, clearing the whole thing each time.

I just finished trying to use a cheap tactic, but it didn't seem to work. I found a mimic and killed it, then went one room away and used a warp gate to go back to town. I then went right back into the warp gate and killed the mimic again. I did this for the iron, gold, and wood mimics so that I had killed at least 5 of each of them, but no egg.

So now I'm wondering whether it's actually 10 of one (and the wiki is wrong), or 10 of each, or whether only unique mimic kills count for it (ie, if my trick didn't work because the game considered it to be *one* mimic no matter how many times i killed it).

The trick works for every other familiar. And you don't even need to use multiple warp gates, a single warp gate and then save scumming works. So they're RNG drops afaik or somehow kills that aren't saved get recorded in your savegame still?!
I have no idea how to get the mimic though.
The wiki is compete garbage and I think it's updated by the devs, so I wouldn't trust a single word in it as they have no clue. The game is infested by bugs since day one and not a single bug has been fixed, so I have very low confidence they know how the game works.

Ok so kills do get recorded when savescumming lol, so maybe it's not RNG - only ~5 of these iron mimics were trough legit warps, the others were from reloading:
