Someone help me enjoy this game.
This game is really popular in social media so it must be pretty good. I'm probably just playing it wrong because I'm not having any fun at all. I usually play roguelikes and roguelites, platformers, shooters, and love unique games with odd elements. I just finished Hollow Knight.

I seem to do 2 things in this game. the first one is go into the dungeon and do standard dungeon crawling. Unfortunately, the actual reaction, and action of the main character in the dungeon seems sluggish and hard to control. So thats not fun. And each round of the dungeon seems to be really short, before I have to leave and go back to town.

I go to town and run the shop. but that just seems to be a long ordeal of constantly replacing items for sale, and looking in the log book to figure out the right price for each individually. Which is a no-brainer, so its just busy work. Thats really boring too.

What am I missing?

it's one of the main things wrong with the game as stated above it gets ultra repetitive quick, gameplay is excellent but it's hard to shake off the repetitive loop feeling.
The trailer makes it look more in-depth than it actually is.
When I played it, I just had to mentally compare it to Binding of Isaac. The dungeon is far deeper in BoI, difficulty progresses more smoothly too. You can move while attacking too and you have special items to use to help you in combat.

In Moonlighter on the other hand, the very first thing the game teaches you is "You cannot move while attacking" by giving you a Sword&Shield, which is the embodiment of immobility.
Afterwards the game just has no incentive to swap weapons once you have found one you like. All weapons have the exact same attack-principle, which is "Stab until enemy is ready to attack, then roll." OR "Stab it at an angle.". There are no other strategies.

Next problem: Going back
Once you have completed a dungeon, why should you bother doing it again? The loot isn't worth it, bosses don't respawn and by the end you are so tanked up that you could just walk through without worry.
