Once you get the shop upgrades that bring in more customers and speed them up, you'll be happy to be able to slap a couple of stacks of things in the display case on the off chance you'll earn 80-100k more than at the normal price.
When you make millions a day you'll be thankful you aren't wasting your time with display cases. Pointless upgrade that actually had me losing money for a while until I realized nobody wants anything in them and one generous customer is nothing when you sell 50 items a day.
Same with the banker, pointless.
I AM making millions a day. I actually like the glass cases quite a bit because of that. They're something I can put really high dollar stuff in and not worry about while I'm scurrying about trying to replace sold item after sold item. Right now, mine have the high dollar books and parts from the desert dungeon boss.
Edit: Though by the time you are making millions... well, there's pretty much no point in selling anything. You've probably already bought everything to be bought and are just about done with the game.
