Moonlighter support guide.
The adventure begins!

The technical meanders can be just as difficult to navigate as the monster-filled dungeons of Moonlighter and we know it’s dangerous to go alone, so take this (support guide) and use it should anything give your PC a slight KO. We’re obviously here for you and you can reach out to us at techsupport@11bitstudios.com, but before you do that, there are a few things you can do on your own - there is a high chance you will be able to get the game to work like a charm without our help!

Please do the following:
  • Reinstall the game;
  • Verify game's files via Steam (How? Just right click on Moonlighter -> Properties -> Local files -> click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache...);
  • Update your graphics card drivers;
  • Update your DirectX and Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages;
  • If you're forcing anti-aliasing from graphics card control panel - be sure to disable it;
  • Run the game in windowed mode;
  • If you are using custom resolution and/or downsampling, disable it;
  • Disable Steam in-game overlay;
  • Be sure to launch the game as the administrator;

My game crashed, what now?
First of all, please launch the game again and see if it occurs again - if it doesn’t, it could have been a one-time glitch and there is no reproduction possible. If it does, please go to the folder:

C:\Users\[Your Windows Username]\AppData\LocalLow\11BitStudios\Moonlighter\Crashes

Grab a log that can be found there. Please send it to us at techsupport@11bitstudios.com, along with a save file and DxDiag files - we need to analyse it and see what goes wrong.

Where can I find my save files?
Your saves can be found in the following folders:
  • Steam version: [Your Steam Installation Folder]\Steam\userdata\[Your Steam ID]\606150\remote
  • DRM free version: C:\Users\[Your Windows Username]\AppData\LocalLow\11BitStudios\Moonlighter

How do I generate the DxDiag file?
1. Click on Start.
2. Type "DxDiag" and launch DxDiag.
3. Click on "Save all information".
4. Save "Dxdiag.txt" file.

Linux Input issues - temporary solution.

The version of Unity that is currently used by Moonlighter has a conflict with Linux controls - it turns out that you may encounter issues when performing actions that require you to long-press a button. This happens only when using keyboards, controllers are working just fine. While we are doing our best to upgrade to a newer version of Unity (which - sadly - is quite a large task), here is a temporary solution, kindly sent to us by [GOL] LiamD:

Workaround for Ubuntu:
  1. Launch the game
  2. In your terminal write "xset -r" or
  3. Go to your keyboard settings and turn off autorepeat

Unfortunately, this change is not permanent and you need to go through this process every single time you launchh the game, sorry!

If you encounter a bug and something is not working as intended, please let us know how did you encounter it and what version of the game are you using. Screenshots are always a welcome addition.

If you are playing the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you can also easily send us a video demonstrating the bug - the built-in DVR allow you to record a clip. it would be awesome if you were kind enough to copy it from your console’s HDD, upload it to a cloud of your choice and send us a link to the video - showing us how the bug looks at your end will aid us in finding and eradicating it on a much shorter notice. :)

Cheers!
