Length of the game?
Does anyone know how long this game is supposed to be? It looks interesting but it also kind of seems like it'd be fairly short, based on what I've seen of the game so far.

I'm 8 hours in and only on the second dungeon there is a lot you can do.

This is a great review, the reviewer says he's 40 hours in: https://www.gamesradar.com/moonlighter-review/

and yet there are posts from backers saying they have finished everything in under 10 hours ??

Did they also say what mode they played? As there are three modes unlocked from the beginning I've been going through on the recommended mode which is Hard.

10 and 40 hours is a pretty massive time difference. >.> I wonder if the reviewer really, really took his time to spend that much on it.

I played in no particular rush while also caretaking for an infant. It still only took me 20 hours, on the hardest difficulty, and a lot of that was me finicking with the systems and such. I figured all there was to figure out at around the 15 hour mark, end of the second dungeon, and did the rest of the game in under 5 hours. It's pretty short unless you're the achievement hunter sort.

Ah, that's disappointing to hear. Guess I'll wait for a sale before picking it up them.

Since when is a 20+ hour 20 dollar game disappointing? Everyone expecting 100 hours from every game these days no matter the cost or dev.

Also, lol at 20 hours being short when there are 60 dollar games that are 12-15 hours with little reason to replay.

I'm not saying it's a bad game. I hope people *do* buy it. I want to see more in the genre. I want this game to be profitable and to be expanded. Please don't take my comment as a dig at the game.

I simply answer honestly when asked a question, and when compared to the 40 hours stated in the review, I felt I should list my own experience as well, to avoid a backlash from expectations and avoid people demanding refunds.

As stated prior, I want this game to succeed. It's why I kickstarted it.

Okay, I understand. I also hope they plan to add post game content that adds replay value, such as an infinite mode, more things to buy that cost millions, randomly generated challenge runs, etc. The devs did say they planned content in the future, so I'm glad to support them by buying the game :)

Comparing this to Stardew is silly though, with Stardew, there is no concrete "ending", you can play it for over 100 hours and still have stuff to do simply because of the gameplay loops.

I beat it in 15, only because I had to deal with a bug that was crashing the game, and the merchant decided that since i did not appear on the day the total came due, he no longer owed me anything - even though i gave him a ton of money.

Since I decided it was. I'm not telling others the game is a bad deal, I'm simply saying that I personally find it disappointing. I also don't purchase $60 games that only have 15 hours of content.
