Alternatively,
On the desktop right click on the speaker icon next to your time -> click on Recording Devices -> Right-click then click on show disabled devices -> Right-click Enable Stereo Mix
If Stereo Mix is not showing up you're missing the driver.

Alternatively you can plug in earphones into the microphone jack.
Run it in W7 compatibility mode, then as Administrator (if you're on W7 use XP)
Step 1-3 was just them listing the previous fixes that didn't work for them.
You can also try deleting the vidmode.ini file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\DATA\_LVL_PC\
If all of those fail I have a feeling you'll have to try running it in windowed mode, right click on BFII in your library, then click on Set Launch Options, then type in /win, click OK, then try to launch and play it.
