i used to have this game on an old disk. (uninstalled it a few years ago). There were thousands of ppl playing. i loved the game but it was hard online, with all the hackers and the lag. ive only just noticed that its available on steam.. but no online mp?? how many ppl are actualy playing online using the server mods?? is there loads of hackers in the steam version?, like there was on the disk version?? if its rubbish online, like gta san andreas was,, then i guess i wont be getting the steam version. ;(

Uh, guys, the steam version and the disc version are the same game. And later discs (like the one I have) were prepatched to 1.1. They would be using the same gamespy multiplayer service if it hadn't gotten killed, and they use the same multiplayer replacement services (such as gameranger) now.
Disc users...you do know if you run the executable in the game's program files folder, rather than the launcher, you don't need to have the disc inserted...right? Save your disc drive a good deal of wear and tear.

my old disk version wouldnt let me launch it directly from the .exe.. hence why i uninstalled it years ago. if therre is only 5-25 ppl playing per time zone or catchment area then i guess i wont get it for steam after all.. i bet its a ghost town in my area,, just like borderlands 1.
