Gameranger and the host server hacking it allows
So I have had Gmeranger for little over 2 months now and here are the issues with this platform.
First it allows users to change there account name anytime, that allows players to mask there hacking ways. 2 while hosting a game the hackers will wait till your room has 20 or 30 players playing your server to crash it. 3 There is no way to stop the hacks apparentlly because Gameranger has not done anything about this issue no matter how many complaints are on thier formum site check it out please you will see the problem. so going to try other server for now dont wast your time playing on Gameranger unless you like agrevation of playing awesome game with cool players then bang crash no more game. In closing find an alternitive to gameranger I think its money driving for this to happen with such frequency.

How does that even make sense?

because there are host servers that pay to have their rooms hacker free soon they will charge the players that play that server because it never crashes or has the same experiance as the other host servers that are being easily host server crashed and Gameranger lets it continue inspite of all the negetive feedback from your forums please read your own forum to see for yourself
Firstly, who are "they"? GameRanger is a "team" of one. Myself. There is no "they" conspiracy.

Secondly, there are no paid servers on GameRanger. There is no "pay to be hacker-free". Where do you even get this crazy idea from?

The key problem is that the SWBF2 is a bug-ridden mess with tons of easily exploited loopholes. (I say that as someone who is obviously experienced in writing network servers.) Years ago, a few users created some patches for the dedicated server .exe to address some of these bugs that the original game developers left in. These patches were only made to the dedicated server, not to the normal game. This means anyone that hosts with the normal game will be vulnerable.

However, anyone can host a dedicated server using those patched .exes and they will be more resistant. The "V4n1ty" server is an example of that. He did not pay anything for that "privilege".

In response to the GameRanger forum posts, I contacted a number of members (you were offline for a week or two at the time), and created an update that blocked the most common and widely known attack. I was unable to find examples of the other attacks.

GameRanger did not cause this problem. The original SWBF2 developers did, as have the trolls who exploited it.
