If you want to play BF2 multiplayer and make it stable, you have to downgrade the game to the old version then install the SWBFspy mod, and anyone else who wants to join the session also needs to do that.
What is SWBFspy? it's a community made and hosted master server that replaces the old GameSpy functionality in the old game version/files.
With SWBFspy, you can install and run the original dedicated server manager and anyone who joins will have much more stability.
You can get the SWBFspy downgrader/installer from the people who made/host it from swbfgamers.com - account required but it's free.
