Star wars battlefront 2 - Cant even lauch due to missing CD Key

I saw SW BF2 on steam sale on 03/05/2014, I remember playing this awesome game on the PS2, this was my childhood and i was so happy that steam had this game.

I then decided to purchase the game. after download i was so happy to finally play the game. To my suprise, when i now click the play button to launch the game it says, "Failed to contact key server".

I am extreamly disapointed that steam would try to sell me a game that i cant even lauch. I know i am not the only one with this problem, and there are many others of us, the customers, who are outraged by this flaw in steam.

Now, i'm no expert on how this works, all i know is that there are not enough keys to go around.

I ask this to anyone who can answer me:

When will i recieve my CD Key so i can actually launch the game?

The thing that really pisses me off about this situation is that it happens every year and it is bull crap. Every time they have had this May the 4th sale in the past 2-3 years they have ran out of keys and this is the 2nd or 3rd time they have not prepared for it. Hundreds of people go and buy this game just to be unable to play it. The fact that they could have anticipated this due to past sales. Their inablity to prepare pisses me off.

This issue isn't the first time happening to me. I've had this issue with Fable 3 on a sale date, and due to that had to wait numerous days. Maybe even a week. Yeah, it sucks, and everyone is going to get 'mad at Valve'. There's nothing you can do to get your key earlier. Just be patient.

This isn't going to happen. Steam states clearly in their "Buying Games Through Steam" Support act that refunds will not happen, only if the game is a pre-release purchase and has not yet been released.

my GUESS is after the sale ends or a day or something after the sale. Becuase then they won't have a rapidly growing number of frustrated people and they can get to everyone, and there aren't many people left at Lucas Arts to give out keys anymore.

This just isn't true. If nothing else most people buy games off steam with a Credit Card. I used my Visa. We could always contact our Credit Card provider and have them refuse to allow the purchase threw. This isn't exactly a refunt, but you end up not having to pay for a game if you don't want to wait for.

What the hell is the point of going all-digital when they run out of virtual keys. Are the guys at Lukas Arts typing every code by hand into their computer or what the hell is going on? Very unprofessional from Valve.
