the most popular servers in North America will be using that.
In Europe it appears that Gamemaster may be the best choice for a master server replacement. http://gameshare.co/gamemaster
You can use either one or both if you wish. GameRanger and Tunngle are probably okay choices if you just want to play a small 2 player game with some buddies.
How you know; Gamespy, some EA game's servers and others editors whose closed servers prevent you to join the multiplayer servers ( theses services are off). But there are 2 solutions if you want to play online at all these games (battlefront 2, Battlefield 1942, BF2, and a hundred games) :
- the first , is a short program called "gameranger" (you can find easily on internet)
- the second, is a short program called "gametracker" (you can find easily on internet)
these 2 programs are free, easily to install, use and permit you to join a lot of servers and players
I am disapointed that Steam don't permit to play online for all these games.
See you soon on these games.
