Here's a Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Gamespy MP fix

In addition to Battlefront 2, this Reddit post details a lot of fixes for other games that used Gamespy: http://redd.it/2az5kf

When it comes to a solution and keeping things simple, there are only 2 Fixes that are viable in my perspective. I really don't know which one the community will choose in the long run, but as of now it seems like Gamemaster and Gameranger are the two most popular solutions.

Here they are:

And then there's Gameranger. If you don't want to mess with your exe then this is the choice for you. There are already a few BF2 games on it long before its official shutdown and since it now supports dedicated servers and a lot of people already have Gameranger, it's also a very viable choice now. I'm sure it will be popular too.

Either way, due to the nature of this, Battlefront 2's community will sadly be splintered and we need all the help in atleast pointing people to the most viable solutions that will be the most popular and functional. Not everybody will agree to just one....

I didn't realize that. I know there's the common third party programs like GameRanger and Tunngle, but I didn't know of any other's that provided an alternate Master Server.

Bump, I didn't realize it would close this soon. There are core fixes for Battlefront 2's online mp that don't need Gameranger: read Original Post.

Gameranger does seem like a good solution now though since it supports dedicated servers. It's up to you what you choose, the fact is that there are solutions. Help spread the word.

Do you even need to do a fix? I literally just clicked multiplayer and then Join and i got a list of servers

I'm away from my Gaming PC right now so I can't tell. I'm just trying to curtail the apparent shutdown... I was sure that Battlefront 2 would officially close on June 30th, like EA said. And according to gametracker, there are 100+ people playing right now..

I don't know what's happening.

Bumb again, also who do we get the fix? I went to the first link and it took me to a forum looking site, so what tdo I do to get it?

Among other reasons to use GameRanger, it solves the audio crashing problems automatically without needing any tricks. No patches. No hacks.

There's a link at the bottom of the thread in the first link. It will take you to a google doc download page and just download any of the files as it will already come packaged with both the client exe, which is the only one you need as a player and also 2 server exe's for admins.

There's a Readme file there too for details.

I don't even think you need the patch yet. I wish I could check myself but according to others the server browser is still up like it should be until June 30th.

I updated my post. I'm sorry to say that I can personally confirm that EA has already shut down both Battlefield 2 and 2142. The rest are incoming as this shutdown process is a lot more complex than we all thought. I wish EA had a change of heart.
