That is what i always do.
The only thing is that after downloading COMPLETELY the file you must correct the extensio
For example: The file that i wanted to download was convopack22.zip but when i started the download the name was vip3.php
The only thing that you must do is, at the end of the downloading, change .php with .zip and the file will open normally ^^
