Gameranger not working

Hi!

I know Gameranger is meant to be the go-to client to run this game on since Gamespy crashed, but I seem to be running into problems using it.

After I press join, the game launches into the gamespy menu, rather than the LAN menu, which is what Gameranger is meant to launch the game into as far as I know. After this happens, I usually try to click on internet, which makes the game freeze for a fair while, and then LAN to see if the server I tried to connect to is listed, which it never is, so far.

So far I've tried disabling Hamachi, deleting my profiles in the GameData directory, and stopped my network adaptor from accessing ipv6, but I continue to have the same problem.

System:

Win 7 64 bit

i5 2500k
radeon HD 7870
8GB RAM

I've been having the exact same problem. The strange part is that the last time I used GameRanger to play online (back in around May) I had absolutely no problems whatsoever.

Now, whenever I attempt to join, the GR server client will immediately say <<Returned from game>> in addition to putting me in the gamespy menu ingame. It's incredibly frustrating and I haven't seen any solution for this problem anywhere.

Solved!

For me, it was setting both the game .exe, and Gameranger's .exe to compatibility for Windows 7, and checking 'run as administrator' for both. I hope that helps!

when launching a server on GR (clicking join) if the game stops on the GameSpy screen,in game it says Join also on the top left corner. by clicking that you should be able to join.

BattlefrontII.exe must be 1.1 and it must be the original exe.

it is slightly modded to make server crashers not affect your game if any are attacking a server (not by using DDOS,but using another method).

you change exe files on GR by going to:

Friends > Options > Games > SWBF2 > Browse > Select exe file.
or
Edit > Options > Games > SWBF2 > Browse > Select exe file.
or
Room > Options > Games > SWBF2 > Browse > Select exe file.

I dont know, i was having this issue, and what seemed to be my problem what what stated above i believe. I had modded the game with the ultimate mod pack and it rendered SWBF2 useless for online through Gameranger. So because i like the mods and i see almost noone is playing them online, i just wont play online.
