042) When I boot BF2, it just tabs out. I tab back in but it tabs out again. How do I fix this?
I don't have a solid answer for this. I've never had this issue as I use Windows 7. I mostly see Windows 10 users having this problem.
The following is a list of possible fixes.
- If you're on Windows 10, run the game in Windows 7 compatibility mode.
- If you're on Windows 7, run XP compatibility mode. (BF2 was made when the new OS was Windows XP)
- Plug something into your PC's mic/headphone port.
- Right click the speaker icon in the bottom right of your task bar. Click recording devices. Somewhere in there, look for Stero Mix and enable it. (I can't find it on my PC).
- Delete the vidmode.ini file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Battlefront II Classic\GameData\DATA\_LVL_PC\

Disable recording mode in the control panel
If your headset has a bilt in microphone then that's the problem or at least it was in my case. My headset seems to be unable to play and record sound at the same time at full capacity so that is why audio becomes ♥♥♥♥♥♥ when your microphone is active.
If you disable your microphone and your headset sounds completely fine, the you know what the problem is :(
