Are Dedicated Servers Possible?

BFII multiplayer is hindered by a horrible stock tickrate of about 15fps. Unfortuantely, the game binds things like mouse movement and keystrokes to this low refresh rate, so you end up having this odd feeling of lagging, while your game might be rendering in 60fps.

In the past, you could create a batch to set up a dedicated server. The dedicated server had a setting called /tps which allowed you to raise the tickrate and the game will feel just like in singleplayer. However, since the steam update, the batches no longer work.

Is there a way to run a dedicated server or somehow use the /tps 60 command? I do not enjoy the very low default tick rate.

I've been doing some testing and got it working. Basically the new version does not allow the /norender function. You can either remove it from the host file info or set as launch options for the steam version. Here are the launch options/host I use. You can add /lan if you want it to be lan. Unfortunately if you want to join your own server you need a separate steam copy

it's possible but it's unstable and limited, not worth the effort

Google for SWBF2ADMIN. (Current server manager). Keep in mind you'll need to buy a GoG version of the game to use this server manager with.

Also, the default tick rate is 30, not 15.
