It just feels more dated than Battlefront 2 and not the good kind of dated. With stuff like the remaster project, that further amplifies how dated the first Battlefront feels.
I'll give you that the gunplay feels way better in the first Battlefront though. I've always been pissed with how the developers nerfed the effectiveness of rocket launchers, grenades and vehicular cannons. They don't have the same "oof" feeling that they had in the first game and their splash damage is pitiful.
The gun play isn't bad compared to battlefront 1. The reason why people consider it superior is because of the all the ways it improved upon the original battlefront. The first game also felt like a beta and was lacking in content. Almost everything was improved in 2 though.
I think the AI was better in the first Battlefront though....or at least the vehicle AI was better. Much less randomly crashing into things when flying. But other than that, yeah Battlefront 2 pretty much improved on the first in nearly every way.
I don't like how explosives were nerfed though. I miss the old Battlefront where it was entirely viable to play as the heavy class because the rocket launchers did an insane amount of splash damage.
I think the heavy class is still viable. It's good against vehicles and enemies with low fire rate or heavy armor. The vehicles in battlefront 1 felt OP too.
