For black screens and game crashes (especially after launching a game), try these potential fixes:
  1. Make sure Discord overlay is disabled.

If not, see these instructions below:
    1. Open Discord.

    2. Click on User Settings (cog/settings icon next to your username, in bottom left of window).

    3. To disable the overlay for only Star Wars: Battlefront II:
      1. Click the Game Activity tab (under "App Settings" section).

      2. In the games listed under "Added Games", browse for STAR WARS Battlefront II.

      3. Once you've found it, click the Toggle overlay icon (computer icon) so that the status reads as "Overlay: Off".

Alternatively, to disable the Discord overlay globally (i.e. for all games):
      1. Click the Overlay tab (under "App Settings").

      2. Click the toggle/slider next to "Enable in-game overlay" so it is disabled (bear in mind this disables Discord overlay across all games).

Also see the "Overlay Issues" section on the Games Overlay 101[support.discord.com] article from the Discord support site. (Above instructions are more detailed, however.)

Some people have reported that the Discord application needs to be quit entirely to avoid causing game crashes; if disabling the overlay hasn't worked, make sure to right-click the Discord icon in the notification tray, and then click Quit Discord.

  2. Still experiencing the error? See this section here on PCGamingWiki[www.pcgamingwiki.com]:
    • Set CPU core affinity to resolve game crashes[www.pcgamingwiki.com]
      • Set CPU core affinity
      1. Open Task Manager and go to Battlefront's executable.
      2. Set Affinity to use only one or two cores to improve overall stability.

See this post for more detailed step-by-step instructions on how to do this.

  3. Definitely make sure your video drivers are up-to-date too:
