If you don't enjoy the game, there's not much that can be done to improve it. Sure there's billions of mods, but none of them really alter the game enough to make it seem different. I also don't know of any mods that try to replicate the gameplay of EA's battlefront. My best suggestion would be to try different FPS's
Not much can be done about the gameplay.
I don't think that makes the game "more fun"
Multiplayer isnt dead if you get on at the right times in the morning or early afternoon.
EA's battlefront is pretty dead on PC actually.
