Question/Request about the AI
Is there any mod that fixes the REALLY dumb AI in this game? For those who somehow don't know what I'm talking about, I have had these issues with AI-controlled units consistantly:
  • A small-to-medium amount of units on the same team as a human player eventually stop moving or fighting altogether some time after the level begins. (This can range from 3-15 minutes before this starts happening.) When this happens they are either idle or moving in such a way that suggests that something is keeping them stuck there.
  • Teammates (and sometimes enemies) will walk into a deadly pit if it's on the way to an objective. The only way to save them is to get them to follow you. Happens the most on the Death Star level since some paths can be removed if someone destroys a nearby control panel.
  • Enemies seem to switch primary weapons when it is not in their best interest to do so. (Ex: Units with Rocket Launchers switching to them at point-blank range. Engineers switching to their Fusion Cutters in the middle of combat.)
  • Commanders on both teams have an unhealthy obsession to use Recon Droids in combat, leaving them practically defenseless.*
  • They don't attempt to avoid static objects in space (Ex: Asteroids and the flagships). They constantly crash into them for seemingly no reason.*
  • If they are on an enemy spaceship, they sometimes like to control the enemy's remote turrents. They will never leave the control panel for them even if they are being attacked.*
  • When they're in a spaceship, they will fire/drop the bombs seemingly at random.
  • On Normal difficulty, all enemy AI will focus their fire on the player the moment they are in their sight. I can understand this happening on Elite difficulty, but this doesn't make any sense for Normal difficulty.
  • On Naboo, there is this one area where one of the team's units walk into and never leave unless an enemy player aggro's them. This can either make missions on Naboo either a cakewalk or a nightmare depending on if the other team's AI can find them and if it is affecting your team's AI or the other team's AI.*
The entries marked with * are also present in the Playstation 2 version of the game.

Some people tried to fix the AI but loss the source code before they could do something.

I also hate these AI oversights and the only thing that may fix this are overhaul mods.

Agreed about the AI.

Tried my best to compile a list of AI-related mods:

Yeah man, the AI in Battlefront 2 is pretty bad. Strangely enough, the AI in the original Battlefront (from 2004) seems to have better AI than the one in Battlefront 2. They don't seem to crash into things as much and they don't seem to suddenly have that "shut down" effect.
