HOW 2 reduce game size of STAR WARS - Battlefront II
I don't know if this info was already posted.

BF2 is another game that will install useless files.
In this case it is video files.

This is the reason why the game is not 4 GB (like it is stated in the info box on the shop-page) but about 8,4 GB.

Game size b4 deleting the files (base game):
8,4 GB

Game size after deleting the files:
4,2 GB

How 2 get rid of the useless files & save disk space:
1.
Go 2 ...\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\data\_LVL_PC\Movies

2.
Here u find many video files (mvs).
At the end of the mvs-files u will see language IDs.
The IDs r:

...uk (english)
...fr (french)
...gr (german)
...sp (spanish)
...it (italian)

Delete any files u don't need.
Actually the only files u need 2 make the game work properly r:
crawl.mvs
ingame.mvs
shell.mvs
trailer.mvs
training.mvs

iMPORTANT:
If u verify game cache the files will be downloaded again.
If the game gets updated the files will possibly be downloaded again.

All of the SIDE files and the ones with 3 letter names in lvl pc are vital as well. Also, do not delete anything with '.dll' at the end of it

These files r not the problem.
The problem r only the mvs-video files.
This is the reason why the game is not 4 GB but more than 8 GB.

They aren't the problem but if someone deletes them it will be a problem

i mean given that most machines these days have upwards of 500gb storage (unless ur only using an SSD which case u'll probs have 128 or 256gb), 4 gigs isnt rly that much to worry about? sure if ur near ur cap of storage, u should delete files, but there are probably a multitude of other useless files u could delete, like temp folders. just my thoughts

I don't like that games waste disk space with completely useless files.
This is why I write guides about how 2 remove these crap files.
Here it more than 4 GB.
In Mafia3 it is 14+ GB(!) of useless language pack files.

Temp folders r not a problem bc nowadays normaly u have 2 or more HDD partitions & the temp folder is not located on the Games partition.
U also don't have 14 GB in temp folders.

The REAL problem is useless files which get installed by Steam-games.

True.
But why would someone think that he should remove these files?

No,
I don't have ARK.
So I unfortunately can't check the file structures of the game.

However there r games which have 60 or even 75 GB but don't install useless files.
Best example: Nioh.

Yes, this is what I said.
But I also clearly stated that the useless files r ONLY video-files & that these files r located in the movies-folders.

Yes I am necroing the theme but also you can delete these 2 folders:
data/_lvl_pc/sound/de
data/_lvl_pc/sound/fr

those are the sound files for the German and French language and they are 780mb each

Now the game is 4gb like it should be.
