Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (Classic, 2005)

Games similar to this
Hey guys,
I love the Star Wars Battlefront series. I grew up playing the first two on my PS2 and Renegade and Elite Squadron on my PSP. Heck, I had some fun with the newer Battlefronts (after thousands of patches). I loved the whole feeling of all out warfare in the Star Wars universe. So lately I've been trying to find games that give me the same "all out warfare" feeling.

Any suggestions / recommendations (PC, PS3, or PS4 only please)?

Angels Fall First is probably most simillar thing on steam. Its still being updated by developers from time to time.
Well idk what genre you want and whether multi player single player but Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds is excellent for an RTS all out warfare feel. It is made on the same engine as Age of Empires II, so plays the same but with Star Wars skins.

I've heard really good things about Star Wars commando for an awesome single player campaign even though I didn't like it personally.

Another awesome all out warfare RTS with a massive amount of units is Empire Earth 1. Features modern warfare and futuristic units, + decently large maps.

Killzone 1 is just awesome and has not play, similar to Red Faction 1/2.

I've heard absolutely awesome reviews on Supreme Commander and how big it is.

And Halo Wars was amazing when I played it on the 360 a decade or so ago.

Not sure how well the communities for online hold up on these games however.

Also recommend Rise of Nations, Age of Empires II HD and Age of Mythology.

Sorry I couldn't recommend more FPS titles though. These days the list of good FPS games grows ever so short.

There is also Empire at war, which people really like the space side of warfare, but planetside invasions have some issues (like having your foot soldiers being crushed to death by anything with treads, even if said vech is actually kind of slow and easily avoidable by any being with a brain). I’d recommend that too.

Also, if you get Empire Earth 1, which is one of my favorite games of all time, also download EEMap; it will make the game zoom out more and let you have a better view of your units. It is an old game, so don’t be surprised by the old crusty textures and animations.

I'm looking more specifically for the 3rd / 1st person action genre and leaning more into the multiplayer. However, I'm open to other suggestions like RTS.

I also do have Empire at War and Galactic Battlegrounds

Angels Fall First which i mentioned might be exactly what you hope to find. Its multiplayer fps that have both ground and space combat. That game can be actually considered as more advanced Battlefront 2.

Like you said, Planetside 2.

Although i personally wouldn't reccomend PS2 due to the fact that the community is reaaaaaly toxic that bash anything that isn't Planetside 2 even and especially the far superior original, that and they got me banned from the Steam community hub forum for not verifying their biases.

In addition to this there is Battlezone, Battlezone 2, Planetside and of course, Battlefield namely Battlefield (concept) 1942, Battlefield 2 (denotes originality) and Battlefield 2142 (IMO the best in the series). The post-modern Battlefields can probably scratch that itch aswell but they have a similar console-centric base which has become obvious with the vth entry.

Planetside 2 you can grab on Steam:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/218230/PlanetSide_2/

Battlezone and Battlezone 2 you can also pick up on Steam:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/301650/Battlezone_98_Redux/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/624970/Battlezone_Combat_Commander/

Though sadly you can't pick up Battlefield, 2142 or concept 1942 or download Planetside, though Planetside does have a fanmade emulator up (at least ATM) which you can access here:

https://psforever.net/

Also for those wondering, yes this is me looking for an excuse to mention the psforever.net Planetside fan server.
