Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (Classic, 2005)

Star Wars Battlefront II (Classic) INSTANT ACTION MENU
Let me preface this by saying I am a very new Steam user.

However, the issue that needs resolving today doesn't involve my experience with Steam itself but with a game, I purchased for $10 from the store. It's one of my favorite classics called Star Wars Battlefront II (2005). Everything in the game was working perfectly when I noticed either a bug or glitch where the screen clips a huge chunk of the "Instant Action" menu out so that sessions can't even be launched. This is due to the fact that the button to do so is off the screen! Please, if anybody has encountered this problem before or knows any possible solution, I hope you can let me know below.

Thank you!

Run in windowed mode by adding /win to launch options

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't let me extend the window once I see it on screen. My mouse is locked to the opened window.

launch options is something you edit outside of the game itself

I know and followed your advice to the letter. The smaller window that pops up is just a smaller version of the full screen one. The mouse cursor can't leave the window while it's up on the screen.

I have had this problem for MONTHS. I am still searching for a fix, but nothing so far. I'm sure it's fixible, and I will contact you if I do discover the fix.

Thank you so much! I hope it's fixed soon. I'm wondering when this started to happen because even my old CD copy has the same problem now. It can't be just because of the screen I'm using.

Did you ever find the fix? Because I just installed the game and I'm having this problem. It really sucks cause I know how amazing Instant Action is in this game.

Ok so for me turns out typing in /resolution then my resolution in launch options for the game in properties mostly fixes it apart from being a little stretched and small icons, but if you know any other way of fixing it then please let me know.

Sounds like a Resolution issue. Do you have any mods installed? If not, install this: https://www.moddb.com/mods/star-wars-battlefront-ii-full-hd-interface/downloads

This optimizes the screen to allow for better resolution. I think the issue is a result of your game not being compatible with the size your default monitor has.

Yeah I think this was the problem I had. I recently tried some mods and tons of them are awesome that I can get to work properly, and one of them was this which does fix the problems I was having if not made the final product even better. So yeah, thanks! :)
change the resiloution in launch options system properties and type this "-resolution 1366 768" it may be a bit streched on the menu screen but it is normal when you get in to the game i hope this helps.

  1. Try forcing the resolution using these steps below (see PCGamingWiki[www.pcgamingwiki.com]):
    Widescreen resolution[www.pcgamingwiki.com]
    • Command line parameter
    1. See Command line arguments[www.pcgamingwiki.com].
    2. Set the values to the desired resolution. For example, use
      -resolution 1920 1080
      or
      /resolution 1920 1080
      .
    3. This does not appear to work for resolutions past 16:9 and 16:10. Edit "vidmode.ini". See this post[www.wsgf.org].

    Notes
    • The Multiplayer Update will always list all supported resolutions.
    • The custom resolution will always take precedence and as such it cannot be overridden from the options menu.
    • The menus may become messed up or unusable after forcing them to certain resolutions; this can be repaired with Star Wars Battlefront II Remastered.

  2. Otherwise, refer to the "Fixing the menu and HUD for higher resolutions" section in this guide below about installing the Star Wars Battlefront II Remastered mod:
    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1869696515

Star Wars Battlefront II Remastered mod - Mod DB

  3. If none of the above works, try installing the Unofficial v1.3 Patch.

I'll try it and if it doesn't work I guess i'll either get the ps2 version or just keep looking...
