Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (Classic, 2005)

Main Menu Resolution problem
When I bought this game last year I had a 32" HD TV, the game worked fine even though the main menu and ALL text was quite small but I put up with it.
Just after christmas 2017 I got a larger 43" 4K TV.
Played the game a month later to find out that the screen was crashing and fuzzy when I started it up which was very odd as I hadnt changed any game settings and my PC was all set to work correctly on this new TV (all other games are not affected, just this one).
After some research I found out that I had to manually set the resolution through the launch options which stopped it crashing about and became clear, BUT THEN I found that it completely destroyed the main menu and all other text and mouse size making it unplayable as I can't see what I'm pressing. I tried lots of resolutions and it seems that anything not HD makes the screen crash and anything that is HD makes the text and menu worse the higher the resolution I went!
720p seems to be the balance between them all but what's the point in playing 720p when I was in 1080 before..

People tend to have these kind of problems when resizing the window to their desired size. Another option is to make the game run in windowed mode with the /win option, and that may address some of the issues you face.

Unfortunately it hasnt worked, it simply made a windowed version of exactly the same problem haha
I looked around on the internet and it seems everyone is having this problem. I think there was a patch at some point that screwed it all up.
I'm going to try the customer support at the developers to see if they will fix it...

I have found a proper fix.
I am using windows 10, Nvidia Graphics card.
On the desktop I can right click to the Nvidia control panel settings,
from there I can change the resolution and scaling,
I made sure to have my resolution settings as native to what my TV should take, on the scaling settings there is an option to override scaling mode set by games and programmes, I have that checked. Just made sure that the refresh rate matches the scaling and the resolution and that the scaling is performed by the GPU and not the Display.
The game works pefectly now with no problems at all.
I also removed the launch options on the game.

As of 2023 I have a new method.

To set 1080p resolution.

Delete a file called vidmode.
Steams apps, common, Battlefront 2, data
Lvl pc, then scroll to the bottom. Delete it.
Main menu should be low resolution but can then set 1080p in options.
In game should be 1080p. Do not force 1080p in launch options as the main menu will try 1080p and become an uncoordinated mess haha
