Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (Classic, 2005)

Purple Texture Glitch [FIXED]
Hey guys! Lately I've gone back and started playing Star Wars Battlefront 2 again and have really been enjoying reliving my childhood! My only issue is with this one glitch that either a problem with a texture or lighting. It only ever occurs on Dagobah or other out door maps. It look like a purplish color and follows you around as you move. Got and solutions?

Here's the link to the video of the glitch.
Will these work despite using a Nvida GTX 1070 opposed to an AMD graphics card?

I'm not sure. But you can definitely try
I suggest updating your drivers first

Thanks! I found out that the issue was that I had the resolution turned on 1440p and for some reason maps such as Dagobah and Yavin didn't support resolutions over 1080p and thus the texture bug show cased in the video above was created.

Hey artorias did you find a fix to continue to play in 2k resoultion without the bug? or did you have to lower your resolution?

Hi Wrathangel and OP, I've found another fix which will let you play in 1440p. It appears that the issue is actually water (from my understanding it tries to upres the texture beyond what it is capable of) which leads to the purple texture over the screen. If you set the water quality in your ingame settings to low, you should be able to play in 1440p native. Currently im looking at investigating if there is a .ini tweak whereby you can cap the water texture size so could play with higher quality water and 1440p, but for now that's what i've got

Can confirm, this fixed it for me as well. Thanks for sharing, I was really dreading running in 1080p on a 1440p monitor for a 15 year old game!

Thanks so much this was really making it headache inducing to play,

did you find a way to play with the higher quality at 1440p?

Use Shaderpatch (google it) to fix the purple bug and be able to use high resolutions.
Some visual effects (like the water producing purple patches) don't work on resolutions beyond 1080p, which mean you'll have to select either 1920x1080p or 1920x1200p depending on your screen aspect ratio, even on ultrawide screens.
I have an ultrawide 3440x1440p screen and I have to select 1920x1200p, otherwise the screen is too stretched.

To do that you'll have to go to Steam, then right click the game and go to properties.
Then in "launch options" at the bottom of the little window, you'll type:
-resolution 1920 1080
or
-resolution 1920 1200
That's it, you can close the window.

Additionally, you can download mods to make it work a little better and scale the UI, like Star Wars Battlefront II Remastered v1.2 on on moddb :
