The first thing you need is a free and trustable application called HXD hex editor. This is a very small and lightweight application, is 100% free and clean. I've been using it forever. Find and install this.
Then locate your game's main folder named "Star Wars Battlefront II" and look inside the folder for the GameData folder then go there look for DATA folder then lastly go into the _LVL_PC folder.
Then inside _LVL_PC you will see a file called ingame.lvl. Open ingame.lvl into the HXD application.
While HXD has the file open, press Ctrl+R to open HXD's data replacement tool. In the "find" box type in gamefont_small and in the "replace box" type in gamefont_large then press the button that looks like "replace all instances". Make sure data type is set to strings or text or something like that. HXD will replace all references to gamefont_small with gamefont_large. Press the save button in HXD and close HXD.
Your game now has a larger Ingame font as well as several types of menu items.
You can undo the mods by searching for gamefont_large and replacing it with gamefont_small.
This worked with some success for me, the only issue is that the in-game mission messages and status updates are still really small on my 4K screen (3840 x 2160), but it has made the game playable so thank you!
