FL is far from dead. The update had to be pushed back to some unforeseen problems, which the dev is still dealing with and is working hard to fix.
The dev, nor the staff team have been mute. The Steam forums aren't nearly as active as the Discord, where we get people asking and curious about what's going on, and the dev and moderation team keep people informed. I do think in the future, if there are delays we probably should have a post on Steam forums explaining the situation. However, back to your point about the dev being mute, that is very much incorrect, and development is not dead. On that same note, I religiously reply to almost every thread on here, and as a moderator, I speak on behalf of the dev, who tries his best to reply to everyone, but at the end of the day is 1 man who also has to work on the game. It's a juggling act, that why he has moderators.
I'm not sure where you got this information, but the developer of FL, Nils Jarkins, is not the same as the developer for Enforcer, whose name was Kaligus. They are completely different games by different people. Also worth noting, the discussion you referenced was something I posted. I wouldn't be here defending Nils if it was the same crappy Enforcer dev.
Worth noting, the post you're referencing? It says FL is developed by someone new.
I also think you might be confused. The Publisher is not the same as the Developer. Publishers publish games. Developers make the game.
Thank you for posting about update request.
The development is ongoing and haven't stopped even during winter holidays. We have done major improvements for optimizations and fixing crash issues players experiencing after modding update.
We have pushed updates to our unstable branch, usually announced on our Discord, so we can weed out any major issues before releasing to everyone, however feel free to test the new version.
To access the unstable branch you can do the following:
- Load up Steam and head to your library
- Right click on Flashing Lights and then select "Properties"
- Head to the Beta tab and in the drop down select "unstable_test_branch" (no password needed)
- This will then download the new update for you
This was meant for possible January update, but then we saw opportunity to optimize even more and so we took that path. Though going forward we have shared updates in Unstable branch during February.
We want to be more open with updates this year, there is no set dates. Getting closer to release out of early access we want to polish more and split tasks as needed and not obligated to squeeze in one month updates.
Took more time to fix things so moved from one month to another, we understand we have to put out an update asap specially due stable build having the crash issues and lack of optimizations, however we will see if it needs more days. We will include all possible information about our plans in coming update release.
And regards the Enforcer, I have not worked on that title or any other game.
Flashing Lights is my first game and I am here working on it.
P.S. I think the game is getting better every month. Though, plz be more transparent on updates. That would be great. I do think that mods and character customization should have been one of the first things worked on that way more could accumulate over time. Also any chance you could add backup in the future? Like sending roadblocks and other units.
P.S. 2, I It would be greatly GREATLY appreciated if you guys could come out with a tutorial on how to create a mod. I am so confused and don't know how to create a mod and want to create a mod myself. I have a MacBook air fyi.
Thanks for this game! Great work and appreciation here!!
