Assigning xbox controller

I watched a couple youtube people saying that the xbox controller was pretty much plug and play, but i found there were no presets for xbox 360 or xbox one controllers.

I have managed for the most part to get most functions working setting them up one at a time, but is there any way of mapping the left click on an icon to the controller?

I find it frustrating to use the controller to walk up to the vehicle door for example, then have to use my mouse to open it. I would like to be able to just click button A to interact with the icons.

I can't seem to find the setting in the game that would allow me to do this. Any help would be most appreciated.
