How do I properly use FTP?

In experimental version, I'm stuck on the first mission. I have no clue hwo to properly set up FTP so I can upload a file I need to to the rented server

Hi, you have to download the ftp-server-installer from any shop from internet. Upload it to any server you want and execute from it.

ok i did that by opening a browser on the target and downloading from the shop and running it, but not sure how to proceed. it says to enter user@pass and IP but whose? Let's say I am running this from the target computer and I want to set up FTP on there so I can connect from my own to upload and download files...

U need to get ssh acces to your server, now you are connected to it. Use
scp -u ftp-server and after make sure you are connected to your server with ssh and just write ftp-server now if you want to see if your ftp is up use the command nmap or come back to / and look if folder named Public was created. (Sry for my english)

So in other words you need to connect to a target through SSH only before you can run FTP from it? What if I connect another way? Is there a way to run FTP on your own comp? I tried the ftp -server commnd on my own and it doesn't work
