Couldn't start launcher?

Hey peeps.

I'm having a huge issue... I can't load the damn game!

Each time I click to play it says it cant start the launcher. Something about a bootstrap error (presumably steam).

I have restarted my PC, verified the cache of the game and even re-installed it but it is still not launching. Any of you know how to fix this?

No Idea - nobody else seems to have reported specifically a bootstrap error in the bugs forum; however, there are people reporting they can't get the game to launch - ie possibly the same issue.

I am also getting Bootstrap error - couldn't start launcher. I can not start the game.

Hi guys,

Good news!

I have asked via twitter and received a response and they pointed me to this page here - https://support.paradoxplaza.com/hc/en-us

If you follow through to the help page you should be able to search for fixes, however it was at the top of the page for me when i looked. Clearly this is a well known issue!

As for the fix... I had the launcher in my Avast! virus chest. It appears some virus software believe it to be a virus, which clearly it isn't. No doubt it will be patched out but take a peek in case this is your issue.

Go to the ParadoxLauncher folder and delete the launcher then start the game . The launcher will be re-installed and the game will start working.

Thanks, as I have posted above the issue was with anti-virus programs thinking it's a virus. Once an exception is created it will be fine.

Interestingly I found a couple other exe files for games in there. Not sure how I havnt realised sooner tbh.
