It's not my favourite game in the whole wide world, though, and there are a lot of things I wish were different. Gangsters with XCOM should have been a slam dunk, but instead it's the Portsmouth Sinfonia version of The Untouchables. It's "kind of" entertaining, and it runs well and looks good, but it oustays its welcome.
I got it on deep sale and maybe I have my money's worth, if only because of shooting machineguns at people. I think it's better than Omerta, but that's not saying much.
This game is really fun and entertaining. Ambiance is also very good. Events and sidequests are surpising me. Many ideas are very good. A journalist for your reputation or another one giving you an interview to get some traits bonuses. I found these very good.
Usually, Paradox is excellent for these kind of games. I mean by this, games where you have to manage an empire and diplomatic relations among others. I'm thinking of Crusades series by example just to naming one.
AI opponents in gunfight is not genius but I see this game as a big picture. A management game where you have to deal with events and gang relations. You never know when a bad event comes up at bad time. Extinguishing fires around you and grow your businesses before they all go against you. That's how I see the game. ;)
More, what I like of Empire of Sin compared to Xcom is that the game is not frustrating to play in combat. You do not miss your taget constantly and are not losing your soldiers always dramatically. I'm finding it more balanced than Xcom.
Empire of Sin is fun to play and the purpose of a game is to give fun. Job done!
Gangsters was much better, but it's powerfully old.
No. I don’t think so. Just started playing, but looks promising.
It looks like, the problem is that (for some reason) people compare the game with X-com. I do not know why. The game was not intended to be X-com. And in general, it is not much like it atall.
It is difficult to describe the genre of the game. It combines elements of an economic simulator, tactical combat, and character stories.
The closest I can remember... This is a "syndicate" created by Bullfrog Studios in 1993 (but there was a cyberpunk style).
it's close to 50% on IndieGala ... i did the math and caved grabbed premium as my interest was spurred by expansion and free LC announcements .... given what PDX generally do with any product under their name ... im quietly optimistic this will grow.
That being said City of Gangsters is EXCELLENT and well worth a pre-order for less than what ud pay on sale here.
I'm curious to know how you can say City of Gangsters is EXCELLENT when this game will be released only in August. A pre-order doesn't give you the game before its release. The game is not ready.
How and where did you try this game?
