FAQ - Read This First

If you're having a problem and aren't sure, read the below list first. I've outlined a few solutions in there.

Black screen

Preferably you can go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Monolith and run the game executable in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Alternatively, you can fix it by going to your Users/<Your username>/appdata/roaming/monolith folder and editing the "config.ini" file to change the "v_sync" value from 0 to 1.

Shader Crash on start

If you get an error that looks something like this:

FATAL ERROR in Vertex Shader compilation

ShaderName: shader_palette

D3DXCompile failed - result

then you require to install the DirectX 9 Runtime Library. The game cannot run without it.

Controls not working on Steam Deck

Go to the game's properties and force compatibility to Proton. The control issue only seems to affect the native linux version.

No Achievements/No Steam Overlay

This seems to only happen when we update the game and requires Steam to be restarted before it can properly initialize within the game.

Game just straight up crashed

Oh dear. If you get an error log, please screenshot it, crashes should definitely not be happening and we'll immediately get on the case if you find one.
