Going into this game, I didn't know what to expect. I finished it in about 4 hours. That's with leaving the game running while taking short breaks every once in a while.

Story
The beginning of the game starts off very enticing and intriguing. You get to talk to all the characters and learn little unique aspects about them. However about halfway through, the plot seemed to take a turn I wasn't expecting. The missions began losing their sense of seriousness to me. This happened to the characters as well, particularly Turn. I understand his character goes through an internal conflict, but his conflict seemed pretty humorous to me.

Gameplay
I'm going to break this section up into two sections. There was the length of the game, sense of interaction in the levels and then the actual puzzles themselves.

Length - I finished this game in about four hours. I thought the plot was rushed; I really wanted time to relax and fall in love with the atmosphere of the game by being able to interact with more objects but it didn't have that. It was more : Objective, objective, and objective. By chapter six, the final chapter, I stopped for a moment and said, "How'd I get here? Wasn't I just applying for this job like 2 and a half hours ago?"
However, in those four hours, I felt very attached to the, sometimes seemingly, goofy characters. I really want to know what's next for all of them. If a game can manage that, I feel it has done it's job.

Interaction - For the most part, you only get access to the parts of the levels that pretain to the puzzles. I feel like if there were more objects to interact with, reguardless if they pretained to the player's current objective, to make the world feel more real than I would have been more immersed.

Puzzles - The puzzles were amazing. Cudos to the development team for the puzzles. I legitimately was stuck for a while on a lot of them in the later chapters. I really wish there were more honestly because those were my favorite part of the game.

Graphics
I really loved the graphics. I truly felt the Indie game vibe and thought it was very unique. The water was amazing looking!

Personal Thoughts
If I could reach out to the devs, I would say to continue the amazing work they're doing. I was surprised it was a ten person team during the credits. I would ask for a longer game. I don't think this game is worth the price it is for the length of gameplay - I'm sorry :/. I think there is an amazing game here, but the pacing was too fast. At the end, I felt slightly confused. It ended on what I thought was a good midway climax to the story's plot; there could have been six more chapters.

Overall
Overall, The Low Road is a great game for what it is. I became invested in the characters and the world created. I feel like if you are to buy this game, try to do so during a sale (30%-50% off) due to it's short runtime. The puzzles were fantastic. I really hope there is a sequel to expand upon this game.

Really can't wait to see what this company puts out next!

So I really, really wanted to like this game because the graphics look amazing and the plot sounded very interesting for a point/click adventure game; however, a lot of small issues ultimately led to an underwhelming experience that lost my interest in the game within about 45min. It says I logged about twice that time, but that's only because I quit at one point without realizing there was no autosave so I ended up starting over (blaming myself for that assumption).

Pros:
1) Interesting plot (from what I experienced in terms of the overall direction)
2) Graphics look fantastic
3) Sound is pretty good and voice acted characters is always a plus
4) Despite my complaints below, I can tell a lot of time and effort went into creating this game since certain aspects were polished very well

Cons:
1) Character mouth/audio syncing: The character's mouths don't sync up with the audio which irks me (intentionally it seems). Typically after the character stops talking, his/her mouth is still moving for a second or two. However, this by itself wouldn't bother me if it was my only complaint.
2) Audio issue with some dialog: With one particular character, it sounded like the audio recording was done over a phone. It seemed off compared to the rest of the characters that I'd encountered so far.
3) No in-game settings/options: There's no menu option for any kind of settings like audio or key remapping. Can't recall the last time I saw a game without even a basic option menu.
4) Main character can't move during dialog: While someone is talking, whether it's your character talking to herself/you as she examines items or talking to another character, you aren't able to walk around at all. I can understand it for talking to characters, but it's annoying that I'm frozen while inspecting a random item.
5) Can't re-examine items in inventory: This one really annoyed me since I can't remember the last time I played a point/click game that didn't let you do this. I picked up a flyer with lots of info on it, but I accidentally clicked off so it went into my inventory before I could read it in full. I tried to right-click on the item from my inventory to re-read it, but the game wouldn't present me with the blown-up flyer again nor did my character even narrate what the item is. The only hint is a tooltip that appears when hovering the item which describes it in about two words (in a font that makes you squint). Luckily in this case the contents of the flyer turned out to not be too important in terms of how it needed to be used, but I had a feeling that this issue could easily get me stuck in the game later on (at least without relying on save points to re-examine items) which made me hesitant to continue playing.
6) Can't skip dialog using mouse: The only way to skip dialog, which I found by trial and error, is hitting spacebar. And of course since there's no option menu, this can't be re-assigned at all. Space bar for skipping is fairly common, but personally I like being able to play point/click games using only mouse when possible. Considering your character can't even move during dialog, allowing a mouse click to skip seems reasonable.
7) Examining documents should should be layered over the dialog text options: The first scene in the game has you making a phone call with documents for reference to help manipulate the caller into telling you what you need to hear. When examining a document up close (not the normal inventory items which can't be re-examined as mentioned above), the document is layered behind the dialog options even though you can't select dialog while examining the document. It was slightly annoying trying to read them since I had to keep re-adjusting each document to fit within the available real estate.
8) Poor feedback when you fail at something: When making that first phone call in the game, there's three pieces of info that you need to extract from the caller - but aside from being told by another character prior to making the call, you never see those objectives again so it was confusing as to which I did wrong/why. Another short scene has you pick-pocketing someone which I was positive that I did right, but it said I failed without any indication of why... felt like it was an impossible task but presented otherwise.
9) Unmemorable characters: I didn't really like any of the characters in the game that I encountered in my short time playing. Most of them I actually found a bit annoying, including my character who I think I liked the least. I didn't care for her voice acting or even her design (the weird clown make-up on her face, the way she awkwardly walks, and her pants that swallow half her body). In general, even though I'm not exactly sure why, but I found myself not caring about anything that the characters had to say.
10) Strong start with high expections but quickly dulled: After the first task/puzzle in the game where you had to make that phone call and apply some logic to manipulate the caller, I was really excited to play since it felt like a different experience than most point/click games generally offer. It set the first impression for what kinds of things I'd be doing/solving, but then five minutes later I'm simplistically talking to some old coworker coming up with childish rhymes and haikus so he'll help me with something (despite him previously telling me that he'd never risk his job for someone he just met, but apparently he can be convinced for a rhyme).
11. Autosave would be nice

The Low Road has an interesting take on classic point-and-click adventures: it adds mini-games to the usual mix of object and npc interactions in the genre. Even though most of said mini-games are trivial tasks, the few exceptions that involve dealing with intel do affect the narrative directly and they require a more cautious approach as a result. In a similar fashion, certain puzzles can be solved differently, which adds a sprinkle of personality to the otherwise insipid main characters. Its 70s ambiance and perfectly suitable soundtrack, in addition to its refreshing, refined art style, are also strong points of this particular title, and help reinforce the whole setting. However, although the overarching plot is adequately executed, the character's vexing writing and their unenthusiastic voice over are a constant hit-or-miss - a monumental flaw that can make it almost impossible for the player to care about any of them. But if you like spy-themed adventures and are looking for a hint of non-entirely-linear progress, The Low Road might be a quick fix. Just keep an eye out for better spy agencies in the meantime.

A bit expensive on the price point, but this game is great as of 8/17. I have not experienced any bugs. The art was beautifully performed, the music is great, and the story line is excellent. I am two playthroughs in at this point. There is a good bit of humor that is to be expected with a game like this. I don’t often write reviews, but I really enjoyed playing this game.

This is a hard game to give a score to.
Let me start by saying point and click adventures are my thing.
Did I enjoy it? Yes.
Am I super positive about this game? Meh.
Would I recommend this? At full price? Probably no, if discounted yes.

Don't get me wrong, this as a product is great. The art, the style, the voices, the dubbing etc... is very well executed, it's a professionists' result. Characters are not many, but every of them is taken care of into detail. The humor of the main char, but also the story itself, is good and well placed.

The main problem here is a weak-ish plot and the game experience. The puzzles are enjoyable to solve, but utterly easy. I mean super easy. The items you have, the choices you're given when facing an obstacle are so little that you get the answer (or what you have to do) right away without any challenge. They don't seem riddles or puzzles, they seem quick intermissions put inside a story you're following. And that's a real waste because everything built around the plot has a lot of potential, and could have been used better.

Finally, this game lasts no more than 4 hours, it seems to me overpriced for this playtime.
Overall I'd give 4/5 if I really had to cast a score.

This game is good enough to get a positive review, but this is not exactly a compliment. The game is quite short. I really love its art style. The puzzles have the correct amount of difficulty (neither too hard, nor too easy). The story is kinda complex and uninteresting. The dialogues and the characters are just fine, although we don't get the chance to meet most of the characters enough. To be honest, I didn't really enjoy this game, but if you get it for a very low price, it's a good way to kill 3 hours of your free time. I'm pretty sure they put a lot of love and hard work into this game, but that's not enough to make gamers enjoy it.

I cannot recommend an adventure game that has a timed puzzle with no skip button. If you do not have the ability to move lots of blocking objects and slide a tracker around a set of curves within the time limit - it's game over - without being able to finish the game. Can't recommend - sorry.

Well-written and often funny dialogue, excellent art-style and sound-scapes, but the annoying gameplay keeps me from recommending it.

Minigames are used that are not fun or just random, inventory items need lots of clicks and drags to use, and walking animations are slow and require multiple clicks just to cross a room. There is just a sense of moving slowly through a linear story, which requires pre-programmed choices, without any ability to choose which order tasks are completed. This poor gameplay takes away from the many other high-quality background elements.

Anyway, it uses the Unity Game Engine. It takes up a whopping 4,800 MBs of local files. And while the level-load music is great - and lengthy, there are no local music files. The mouse is used for most things, but advancing the dialogue and accessing the main menu needs the keyboard. And the main menu has no configuration options. There is no gamepad controller support. The soundtrack is a separate purchase, unless you know how to unlock the Unity archives. Also, another big problem is that achievements are not working on linux systems. I played this game on an ubuntu linux desktop with 8 GB of memory and radeon mesa graphic drivers.

Its a slick, good looking game with a good soundtrack and excellent voice acting. However the gameplay is tedious and boring. Obvious puzzles and actions have to comply with the strict scripting and tedious back and forth. You know you need to do a task, but the game stops you until its ready for you. Its very very linear.

Not for people who want to figure things out themselves. The game will tell you what to do and when you are allowed to do it.

I'm not really the kind of guy to play point and click adventure games, but when i saw this on sale i decided to buy it.

The graphics and art style is nice, the music really suits the game and the game have a interesting story. The game contains different mini games and puzzles that made the game enjoyable. the game isn't that long, so you can easily beat it in about 3-4 hours, but i enjoyed the game from start to finish. the game also got multiple endings depending on the dialogue options you choose. the game have good humour

there is one thing i personally think could be changed and that is that the game sometimes tells you how to do puzzles. what I mean by this is that the person you play as would say something along the lines of "oh I just got this item, i should do that with this" and for me that took some of the fun of solving the puzzles away.

but all in all, this game is good fun, so if you want well made game that dosen't require to mutch effort to complete this is a game I could really recommend, but at the full price its kind of pricey, so I would recommend to wait for this game to go on sale
