Nope, that was not the case. In any event, i did make runs of every location in an attempt to get that last point. In the end, I started a loop of Haunted Halls at 14/15, and after about 100 loops, got the last point.
I was in the same situation.
Yes that's absolutely the case.
That being said, I've made way more star progress than I have any right to have gained with the ability to unmake bosses, and I'll see if that comes back to bite me later.
The event doesn't mention different bosses, and even if it did, there aren't 15 different bosses in the game.
The problem with this theory is that I actually saw his arm be unmade several times during my multiple runs of each location in my attempts to get that last point. In the end I got tired of trying, and just started a looping run of Haunted Halls and let the game run. When I returned to the computer, it had looped a little over 100 times. (I have an on-screen loop counter.) I stopped the run and then noticed that I had finally gotten that last point.
I think that the game just doesn't count unmaking a lot of the time, and multiple attempts are necessary for it to actually register. There have been two updates to the game since I started this thread, so improvements to this might have been made.
That's what I noticed too. The event task just stated to unmake 15 bosses.
I think there might be enough bosses, though, but it's a little hard to tell. At yellow star 1, most locations spawn a "mini-boss" as well that counts as a boss. Some of the bosses have multiple phases too, but I'm not sure if each phase counts as a separate boss.
Bosses, as far as I have counted (I'm sure I've missed some):
(Spoilers, obviously, so don't read this if you haven't reached yellow star 1 for all locations)
Location: Temple
Boss: Nagaraja
Miniboss: Acronian Cultist
Location: Icy Ridge
Boss: Hrímnir
Miniboss: Giant Ice Elemental
Location: Boiling Mine
Boss: Bronze Guardian
Miniboss: Bomb Cart
Location: Haunted Halls
Boss: Pallas, the Skinless (phase 1)
Boss: Pallas, the Legless (phase 2)
Miniboss: Big Tomb
Location: Mushroom Forest
Boss: Angry Shroom (phase 1)
Boss: Morel, the Sporeadic and Enoki, fungi to be with (phase 2)
Miniboss: Big A** Snail
Miniboss: Mr. Puff
Location: Caves of Fear
Boss: Bolesh, the Cunning
Miniboss: Ceiling Decorator
Location: Deadwood Canyon
Has no miniboss, but boss gets an additional phase at yellow star 1
Boss: Xyloalgia, Residue of Leuce (phase 1)
Boss: Poena, Mistress of Punishment (phase 2)
Location: Rocky Plateau
Boss: Dysangelos, Bearer of Stones (phase 1)
Boss: One With the Elements (phase 2)
Boss: Dysangelos, Perfected (phase 3)
Miniboss: Acronian Scout (can't be killed)
If we only count a single phase of each boss and the minibosses, that count is 16. If Pallas' arm counts as a separate boss, the count is 17.
If each boss phase counts as a separate boss, the count is much higher.
Yes each phase counts as a separate enemy.
Yes Pallas' arm counts, but it must be unmade via the unstable mechanic, not normal unmake via Aether items.
Dysangelos is immune to unmake even with the event active.
Minibosses are a requirement to complete the quest.
