How to make D or d weapon?
D weapon grant's more damage vs certain type, d has special effect. I made both types with same recipe. Most of the time i get d type weapons, until now I only crafted about 5 D weapons, and that by repeating same recipe all the time.

Is it random, because it seems so? Can anyone help shine some light on this topic.

I'm actually curious about this too. I've tried a lot of things, like breaking both of them down into their basic elements, but for whatever reason my first hammer will always come out as a dH and my second hammer will always come out as a D. There is no option to reroll like with enchantments so I'm stuck as to why they're different.
Edit: After more trying I'm even more confused, now I can't make a d weapon no matter what I do. In any element, in any combination.

I think i figured it out. It's random, unless your item on the left in crafting table already has "prefix". If the left one is one of the basic items you will also get random "prefix".

Example:

qurterstaff + du aether wand = ?? aether staff
?? can be one of may D, dL, du, A, dP

whereas:

du aether wand + quarterstaff = du aether staff

So when making you items, you make bunch of them, find the prefix you want, then leveling up that item.
Or just farm the correct place so you get bunch of items find the one you like and level it up.

I just figured out how it works. Some mods can only spawn on certain equipment types, for example, for Vigor runes aH can only spawn on shields and dH can only spawn on weapons, hammers count as both so they can have either. Just making wands doesn't work, you have to actually make the full item with an open slot first.

It's not completely random. Vigor Wands don't have the H (healing). They have the L (lifesteal). Only defensive things can have H, as it involves getting hit. Shields can have H, as well as Hammers, because Hammers use Shields as a crafting component.

There will be a "Mutator" station in the mid-future as a way to get the abilities you want on an item. It will also allow conversion of basic weapon types (e.g.: Shields turn into Quarterstaffs). I'm considering whether or not to allow Runes to mutate into another type but it's certainly possible.

Sounds incredibly useful! I have an ungodly abundance of Wands so this would be very appreciated

I had a poison shield/wand that reduced the damage an enemy did for 3 seconds. I then broke it down to try some different combinations of crafting weapons.

I have just spent 5 minutes breaking stuff down and building it back up to try to get that same effect on a shield or wand. I cannot get the effect back.

Is the solution here to just keep breaking it down and re-crafting it over and over until I get the dp poison effect I want again? Am I just getting bad luck, is it a low percentage chance, or is there something I need to do differently? Can I even get that same effect again from breaking it down and re-crafting?

Seems like you need to break it down completely from my experience. Just craft individual 1* poison wands until you get the effect you want and then upgrade that wand (make sure its in left slot). When making the shield put wand first and shield second too and it will keep effect type (think it changes from dp (reduce their damage when attacking) to dP (reduce their damage when attacked), but memory is hazy).

I just had an aether wand D and fused it with a Big Sword and it changed to dU. The system really needs some clearing up how fusing works.

If you're not making hammers/staffs crafting is easy to grasp.

Left or right doesn't matter when crafting on v1.4 only which item goes in first. If you fuse two of the same item then put the ability you want to keep in first . If you fuse two different items and don't want A/D put the rune item in first. If you want A/D put the rune item in second.

e.g.
sword + rune wand = sword D
rune wand + sword = sword dx/dL
shield + rune wand = shield A
rune wand + shield = shield aX
stone item + rune = rune item A/D
rune + stone item = rune item aX/dx/dL

Step 1: Craft an item with the suffix (aX). We can make Runestone Shield (aX) using the recipe:
“Rune | Stone Shield → Runestone Shield (aX)”
---
Step 2: Break apart the Runestone Shield (aX) using the Fissure Stone.
---
Step 3: Use the recipe “Rune | Stone Hammer”. It will receive the suffix (aX).
Doesn't works. Breaked item should be either Staff or Hammer type, only then it changes.

That's weird it worked for me before but when tested again it didn't. I'll have to update it
