I just installed the game on my older office machine (i5 no dedicated graphics card), and after fiddling with the options for a minute it seems to be running fine (with an occasional stutter here and there, but nothing troubling at all). This is deeply weird. Im gonna dive in later today and report on how it runs. Thank you again for answering, i really like the setting so far!
I opened up my nVidia control panel and noticed that my default had been set to the integrated graphics processor (almost always a bad idea) over the video card itself. I closed down the program, tweaked the app settings (and changed my global settings back to video card FIRST, since that got wiped during a reformat) and now everything's working like a dream, albeit a bad Lovecraftian nightmare with tentacles abound. Anyone playing on a laptop should probably double-check their own settings before proceeding, or if they have an integrated processor and a video card, make sure Usurper is using the better one.
Change options.ini one by one 1 to 0 or vise versa, then few settings at a time.
With plugged or unplagged controller, with turned off second monitor/display.
Changes for each try Vsync to on and off.
With one changes i got smoother lags(less noticeable most of the time), with other changes lags get unbearable.
F10 show 50-60 fps (20)(30) ~ (30)(80), with tiny spikes, which take less than few letters, line in size less than number of fps. One half red, other half yellow.
With other settings show 400-2500 fps, with small to no spikes, but strong lags without Vsync, when with Vsync less laggy, but still not so playable.
Win 7 SP1 64bit;
CPU AMD FX-8350(4 Ghz, 8 cores, overclocked to 4.3 Ghz);
20 GB RAM;
Nvidia GTX 650 Ti(2 GB VRAM).
On my PC most of games work fine, even new ones.
Btw, that looks bit strange that game which in size ~900 MB use all free 1,7 GB of VRAM(that show MSI Afterburner), because old games or not so demanding usually use part of my VRAM, but not all of it.
I have these exact problems as well. createTexturesOnDemand=1 or the game crashes after the logo screen, then when in the game it initially runs poorly, then I get to the knights body and it will fail somewhere during the speech, sometimes the screen completely glitches out. I can click through the dialog and end up getting sounds of the character jumping and swinging a weapon, but nothing I do will cause the screen to display anything other than black/glitched textures.
As a side note, when using my xbox1 controller the analog stick doesn't work for navigating in sub menus (settings, new game options), but it works for gameplay and top level menus.
I requested a refund but just wanted to let the developer know that it's happening for others as well.
How I did this:
1: moved tmp and temp folders to C:\
2: increased paging file to six digits (for me it was 320000MB you may want more if you can spare it)
3: turned vsync on in my desktop graphics setting / your gphx card settings
4: made 4 system environment variables as follows:
bufno 8768
bufsize 7689999999999
cachenum 8768
cachesiz 7689999999999
5. I made a shortcut of steam on the desktop
6. In shortcut properties in the shortcut tab in the target: text box, make it look like the following one line string by cutting and pasting as necessary:
"Yoursteamlocation"
-bufsize=327680000000
-bufno=4096
-cachesiz=655350000000
-cachenum=4096
With one space between each and yes those typos like "cachesiz" are supposed to be like that.
7. In the steam library in the usurper general properties in set lauch options put the following one line string with one space between each:
-bufsize=32768000000
-bufno=2096
-cachesiz=65535000000
-cachenum=2096
8. in the usurper options.ini put the following values:
CreateTexturesOnDemand=0
AlternateSyncMethod=2
VertexBufferMethod=1
SleepMargin=4
9. In usurper I put vsync to off
10. You may fall through the world just reload your save 2 or 3 times, it should fix itself
11. If any step was too vague or complicated just google it or ask for help on specific point numbers, Im rarely on, but other forum members will prolly help.
12. This worked for MY 10 y.o. laptop with 2GB of working ram. I cannot guarantee it will work YOURS. But I do wish you all the best of luck.
13. Pugware's Steve has put a ton of work into personally answering questions and bugs. In a lot kinder words and patience than I or most human beings would. Please be kind to him.
After SiS gets updated and ported Usurper is next, Am I right to assume it opccured only on room transitions? Its a bug that has been occuring on some machines more than others, and I cold never consistently reproduce it to see whats causing it.
When I work on Usurper's big update for the port I will rebuild the whole transition system, that will eliminate it for certain. Sorry for the issues.
нет, спасибо
Ну как хочешь.
You should try the changes mentioned in the OP. It did the trick for me on my PC. Unfortunately it might not work with integrated graphics
