Modifications that act as different game versions (such as MovieBattles II[www.moviebattles.com]) are installed by placing the Mod folder into the GameData folder (...\Steam\steamapps\common\jedi academy\GameData)
Modifications that just add another playermodel for example are installed by placing the *.pk3 file into the base folder (...\Steam\steamapps\common\jedi academy\GameData\base).
lol Im awful at modding
[V <- the name of the weapon goes there]
saber war_azz_twin
[^<- this and the space following it are the console command's start, you would need to enter that weapon name after the space]
If you have something like PAKScape, I believe that filefront has JA mods has a download for this...
You can manually open PK3 files and explore them, you might be able to find that hilt you wanted to use in singleplayer this way, by seeing what its folder in the PK3 is and entering that name into that console command above this.
Here is the link to it

Hopefully this helps.
On the matter of the color changer, there might be a menu interface that opens after you enter the command in. It sounds almost like you might have picked up Jedi Academy+ though, which means you may need a couple more thigns, and not only this but JA+ is multiplayer mode only, incase you were trying this in Single player.
if its not JA+? Well, THere are ways to bind console commands to keys so when you hit them it enters and activates the command automatically.
It seems, though, that it glitched some part of the game... Last mission on Tatooine the imperial officers seem to "teleport" to where they should be and some walls are flickering. Could it be my pc or the mod itself?
