The starting yellow (medium) is kinda bed for fighting gunners, and red (strong) is just suicide when you are being shot at.
But, on that topic, what would be best for saber fights? I always get my butt kicked.
- You can throw one and still block blaster bolts with the other.
- You can strike in 2 directions at once with certain moves.
- You can prove this game is better than Force Unleashed 2.
- You can choose 2 colors!
- You look more badass.
But that aside, you have to remember that this is not a modern game, and you can't just rush at the enemies and expect to win just because you are the main character. Take advantage of the quicksave function (I set it to F6, with quick load at F9) and plan your approaches carefully. You have a number of force abilities at your disposal as well, use force protection for both force damage and regular damage reduction (you can use them both at once!).
Anyway, hope that clears up some things and helps you!
But has anyone tried the staff or single saber in a playthrough? I keep telling myself that this time I will not select dual sabers... And end up doing it anyway :P
After several tests, I found that I'm only kinda good with single saber. Myabe I don't use the other types correctly (I just usually run around, swinging) I also find it useful to have the three different styles styles to attack with. Switching between medium and strong really helps me in long saber fights.
What happens when you get 2 lightsabers is that you loose the ability to go into "Strong" saber style, while with the saberstaff, I think it's like ONLY strong style. But Single saber gives you all three, at the cost of badassery and multiple targeting.
Heck, I just had lots of fun playing Jaden with 2 sabers. And I noticed you could even deflect blaster bolts WHILE you threw the other lightsaber! That and your rolling stab maneuvers could strike both ways, giving you a distinct advantage over multiple enemies (they were still hard as balls though)
Yeah I remember now; means you'll get the Jedi Outcast experience, pretty much. I think the single saber, along with the staff, are more like expert modes. Dual sabers is easy mode, but it's just so much fun. Best bet against hard enemies is probably single saber, since you can adapt.
Dual sabers? Easy mode!? I can only imagine, I still had lots of trouble, and I think I almost ruined my quick save and quick load button.I attributed that to it being an old game (relatively). I suppose compared to Star Wars: Force Unleashed, that game rather held your hand.
I actually started my current playthrough on the normal difficulty setting, but I restarted on easy. I just like blazing through it with saber(s) in hand doing whatever I want. Besides, it's much easier on my keyboard if I don't die, lol.
Hey, I'm just happy that people are still playing this game AND enjoying it. I've never liked our modern obsession with cover-based shooters and "GRAFIIX ZOMGGGGG". I also understand that the Star Wars fandom gets a lot of flak nowadays, and furthermore, Star Wars games were almost at risk of not being produced anymore!
Say, I have finals right now and am really busy, but did you want to try to link up on Jedi Academy or Jedi outcast multiplayer sometime in a week or two? Or heck, I don't know, would you care to link up in Gary's mod?
I'll send a friend request after this message, and we could perhaps continue this conversation?
