It works just fine with JA++. JA++ is just a mod trying to build off of JA+. Hence why in the server browser it shows up with JA+ "2.6". JA+ last version released was 2.4
JA++ still needs time to improve, since it is actively being worked on it is only a matter of time. But full conversion and replacement from JA+ to JA++? Not really a necessity at this point.
To get the game running, all you need is the assets pk3s and the executables.
I'll list this in steps so that this is easy to follow.
- Create a new folder
- Inside this new folder, make another folder called "base" (no quotations)
- Navigate to ../SteamApps/common/Jedi Academy/GameData/base
- Copy assets0.pk3, assets1.pk3, assets2.pk3, and assets3.pk3 to your new base folder
At this point you are halfway there, all you need is an executable. You can either install OpenJK or get no-cd cracked executables (which may be illegal, but they are openly distributed).- Download the latest Windows OpenJK release from http://builds.openjk.org/
- Extract everything inside the zip file to your new install
- Run openjk.x86.exe to play multiplayer or openjk_sp.x86.exe for single player. Use openjkded.x86.exe to run your own dedicated server.
Folder structure:- Download your executables from a trusted source. I got mine from the HOWTO section here: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1713
- Extract jamp.exe and jasp.exe to your new install
- (Single Player) Copy jagamex86.dll from ../SteamApps/common/Jedi Academy/GameData to your new install
- Run jamp.exe to play multiplayer or jasp.exe for single player.
